I just bought a '98 Disco with the turbodiesel engine and manual transmission to use as my winter car here in Moscow, Russia. My daily transportation here is a BMW 540i which works reasonably well in the winter (traction control is a great thing) but won't last long if I keep subjecting her to these harsh Russian winter conditions. I'll be driving the Disco from Munich to Moscow via Helsinki next week, and wondered if anyone here has any tips for extreme cold weather use of this vehicle? Are there any known issues? I am considering installing an Eberspaecher or Webasto autonomous heater to eliminate any starting problems and to help accelerate heating up the big interior volume. Anybody have any other tips? What about lighting for those gloomy subarctic winter nights? |
