The reason I wanted to remove my door panel is that I am having a problem with my rear door lock for the wayback. It locks fine but you must either lift the lock while you pull the handle or use the key and hold it in the unlock position while you open the rear door. I know this seems like a minor inconvenience but if you are making a trip to the grocery store with 3 kids, it would be nice if it worked. So I managed to pull off the panel and rear speaker assembly without one broken fastener (yeah!) and gave the whole thing a good inspection. On the top of the electric motor housing for the lock, there is a rubber boot that covers the linkage between the motor and the rest of the lock armature. It would appear there should be a spring inside there that applies tension to the lock to remove the obvious slack that is causing the problem. Has anybody had any experience repairing this? Something similar to this is also happening in one of the passenger doors. |
