Cannot get Land Rover wiring kit...not available for months apparently. Dealer offered to wire in aftermarket "kit" for ONLY $550.00...how reasonable...and would you like my youngest daughter too!!!!!!!!!!

Call Uhaul. They'll do it for much less.

Also try Roverconnection to see if they have the kit in stock.

If you are dead set on the official Land Rover kit then call around to all the dealers listed in your owners manual untill you find one who has one in stock and have them ship it to you. Land Rover New Orleans (504) 887-2969 has always been very good when it comes to shipping parts and there should be at least a couple more that wouldn't mind doing it as well. I actually needed a trailer wiring kit a couple of months and they were all out of stock at the usual places I buy from but LR New Orleans had one and shipped it to me (it wasn't $500 either). Good Luck

Try this then:

I was in the same bind when I got my LR wiring harness I was rushing around trying to get the part and wire it in time to tow the trailer and then when I went and got the thing its lights didn't even work, I was pissed.

You can also get the parts from NAPA. See my post at the bottom of this thread.

If you want to do it via Walmart, cheaper than NAPA, here's what I just did over the weekend:

Items necessary:
(1) Universal trailer wiring kit, the kind labeled "Converts Vehicles with
independent bulb turn signals to common bulb trailer turn signals" I used
a Wal-Mart kit #46155, $19.93
(1) metric sized bolt, I used an M6 x 16
(1) Pliers

Optional:
(1) de-bug plug - for making sure it all works. $2.44 @Wal-Mart

Remove the factory trailer plug from its storage space behind the passenger
side tail lights.

Using the crimp connectors (supplied with wiring kit) and the pliers, crimp
the following 4 wires:

1.Land Rover Green with White stripe TO kit Green(right turn)
2.Green with Red stripe TO kit Yellow (left turn)
3.Red with Orange stripe TO kit Brown (tail/park)
4.Green with Purple stripe TO kit Red (brake)

Attach the white ground wire (using the M6x16 bolt) to a threaded hole
located on in the tail lens compartment.

Check with the de-bug plug

The Disco I/II pinouts seem to be the same.
