Screeching Noise Upon Warm Up

A friend on this island has an ?04 D2 which, upon start up, makes a screeching noise. The harsh, turbine like sound continues for a few moments until the idle drops down and then the sound disappears.

There does not appear to be a slipping belt.

Any thoughts on what may be causing this noise?
