D1 factory radio alternatives?

Hi Dweb,

The factory pioneer radio in my 98 D1 lost its display
about 8 years ago, so I put in a kenwood.

Now the kenwood is acting up and I miss the simplicity
of the factory unit. Tried to contact Roverville Radio, and no
reply (yes emailed the new site GB4x4).

So the question is, would a freelander or D2 radio work &
fit? I see D2 radios with cassette & aux port added for a
seemingly reasonable price.

The ISO plug fittings look the same, would have to get an
antenna adapter. What is the large black wire that comes out
of the D1 deck for?

Thanks in advance as always
Steve

A D2 Unit will physically fit in the spot.

It's definitely not a plug and play unit but if you can get the factory side of the harness I am sure anything is possible. Keep in mind those options were dated when released....
