What's to be gained by leaving the EU?
For one thing, out of the EU means out of the Schengen zone, which is a fairly big and timely deal right now when you consider the ever increasing numbers of Merkel Youth and the state of Calais (not to mention the state of Rotherham). Further, the British will now determine for themselves, for example, what types of heirloom seeds may be sold at market as opposed to those decisions being made in Brussells or Stasbourg. If the British play their cards right (a big "if"), they may position themselves as a tax and regulatory haven anchored right off the coast of Europe and become a capital magnet. They might actually
produce again. London, already largely unfettered and the financial capital of Europe could go into hyperdrive.
However, there will be a lot of hard work ahead in terms of renegotiating trade treaties around the world. And it remains to be seen how far the EU will go to punish the UK to make a point to France (where the EU is even less popular than it is in the UK, and a referendum seems forthcoming) and the Netherlands.
