I took last week off (vacation, it's just like working!) and I didn't open my work computer at all and only sent one email to my boss.
Tilled up another area that was just hard packed clay and seeded it in grass. I want the grass to grow a few years and build the soil up a bit and then I'll put in something more functional, but being high desert salty clay it's going to take awhile keeping it watered and nourished until I can till it under and put in trees or shrubs, etc.
Built a small pergola in front of a west-facing window. The window, even with UV/heat film still gets too hot to touch in summer so this will throw some shade on it and keep that room a little bit cooler.
Finished planting the garden, added two more 10x6 raised beds. We have tomatoes, leeks, garlic, bush beans, collards, onions, potatoes, dill, associated lettuces, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, associated peppers, cucumbers, spaghetti squash and a couple watermelons. We'll see what happens. Last year (when we bought the place) we just put some stuff in and all that grew were the peppers and beans and tomatoes. We reinvigorated the soil in February, I redid the drip irrigation system to make it cleaner and better run (over the previous 14 years the owners just kept adding drip lines so it was a spider web mess). Fingers crossed.
Put in a screen door where we had one of those As Seen on TV hanging screens with a magnet (the door was steel so the screen would always just blow open and stick to the door). Rode my Ducati 916. Looked for a new Discovery but haven't found one yet....did notice a few Disco IIs on Bring a Trailer that were going for all the money.
Friend of mine told me he's having t-shirts made up that read: "It's flu season, where's your mask now? Don't you care about the 50,000 killed yearly by viruses you're spreading?" It would be funny to see reactions if someone wore one in, say, December if this Covid thing is over and people go back to being booger eaters.
