Every time I think citizens should be able to have guns people say shit like this. It is not your place to play judge, jury and executioner.

You should be able to defend your life with deadly force, but not your property.

I am certainly glad you are not writing the laws. What you think we should be able to do to defend ourselves and what we can do are 2 different things.

If someone feels the need to use deadly force to protect oneselve or a third person from burglary, kidnapping or bodily harm, in general I will be behind them. And in most states, that is the case.

What state you from VA? If so then Dan is likely right for the state, but you if you care you might wish to look at self defence cases in your state. I do believe that in some states you had better have a darned good reason to be protecting your property.

Re: Kindling for the Campfire

Draw you own conclusions from these facts. Afterward I bet we would mostly agree on many things. Excluding our opinions of course.

If you are more of a numbers person, skip to page seven.

I'll inject one of my personal theories into that data simply for fun, and it's not a very popular one:

The biggest thing to happen during these recent declining years of violence is personal electronic entertainment.

I refer to those horrible video games people are on about, and I especially note video games depicting violence, of which there are many. Indeed, I fully encourage their proliferation.

Nowadays, you're more likely to find a kid in a guild than a gang, and I call that a success.

The internet didn't hurt, either.

As we routinely see here, it's a place for people to vent frustration and regularly (suspiciously, in fact) accuse others of having small dicks as a result of their climbing a mountain, or some other similarly difficult pursuit.

Wasting time, I think, is a great way to keep kids out of trouble.

I don't mean to argue this point to any notable degree. It's simply something I have considered.

Cheers,

Kennith

Where is the evidence that Zimmerman ignored the dispatcher and kept following Martin? This is nothing but speculation. There is no evidence of that. None. It's made up.

It sounded to me like he did indeed end his pursuit. Later in the recording, it was indicated that he'd entirely lost sight of Martin.

That's neither here nor there, though. It's all been through the proper checks and balances.

I personally don't give a shit, but if he's called innocent, he's damned well innocent, regardless of what happened or did not happen, whether people like it or not.

Cheers,

Would it be better to chase them down without a gun?

I'll chase the bugger down with a rocket launcher if that box has a 10mm or 13mm socket inside. I can never find those when I need them, regardless of my obsessive organization.

that's funny, I never said I thought that but you guys immediately jumped to that conclusion because Limbaugh told you to. I understand the leap, but all I said is that it seems awfully convenient - which it does. I have no idea whether its real ir not. The circumstances just smell fishy. No pictures, no details from the victims, who want to be left alone, and no other witnesses. Now its not only convenient, but a little bit fishy too.

I'm sure many people are making the leap and calling bs - I'm not because I don't have enough facts to do so, but I am a little bit skeptical, as we should all be about most things really.

I've been thinking about this and it makes my head hurt...

So, your community association feels the need to have a neighborhood watch program. You volunteer. There are break-ins and some vandalism within your gated community. One night you see a person walking around in the rain. You follow that person in your car while you call 911 to request police response. You are describing to the dispatch officer how to get to your neighborhood and where exactly the "suspect" is, where they are going and finally where you intend to meet the officer(s). You get out of your car to follow the suspect because you just don't want this person to "get away".... Then the suspect is "checking" you out... has turned around and is moving toward you.

Have you done ANYTHING wrong? Have you provoked something? Have you done anything that "led to the need to kill..."? NO

You have the right to walk up to and talk to anyone at anytime in your community. You may even ask anyone what business they have in the area. It may not be the safest thing to do and it may even be a dick move but it is still legitimate. We are not talking about a city street here. This is a gated community. If I hear some shit in my front or back yard at night, I am on point immediately. Gun in hand, I will investigate. If you want to hide in your home and call the police... good for you.

I hurts my head to think that some people out there feel that everyone should avoid all confrontation... "call the police and let them take care of it". Let the nanny-state handle your personal and neighborhood security. WTF

A lot of mental masturbation going on in this thread but cosmic really nailed it.

Kris, you implied the shit of that. And when I called you on it, you claimed that I'm a shill for Limbaugh.

Guess what? I don't listen to Limbaugh, Hannity or Herman Cain. I listen to NPR, of all things. I don't watch Fox News. Lately, if I watch the news at all, it's CNN. Again, of all things.

Was it set up? Fuck if I know, but your bias is showing. Mine too.

This has got to be the most ludicrous bunch of conspiracy theory bullshit ever... I am thinking you are simply trying to be sensational or controversial to get a desired reaction.

To imply that a family of four driving down I-4 in the neighborhood of Sanford drives off the road and flips the vehicle is fishy....for the benefit of Zimmerman... ? Seems convenient?

So to clarify, do you think this story is fake or Zimmy is out for attention, causing accidents?

What is fishy here is your perspective. However, I bet you are a real blast around the campfire... :victory:

I'm bringing George Zimmerman to Conclave this year. All I have to do is get him drop the F bomb on Dan and all my problems will be over.
