you can also remove and replace one spark plug wire at a time and listen for any change. if the knock disappears when a wire is pulled and comes back when re connected it could mean you have a big end loose.

I would try some plain old 15 w 40 and see if that makes a difference. my 99 doesn't like the 5 and 10 weight oils either. chances are this will fix your noise. it won't cost much to try.

sounds like rocker arms or lifters to me. what oil and mileage at change do you have

yes you are correct. and on another note,the original set up was a much weaker design and was also without zerks and it lasted 180000miles before failure. so i will just monitor their condition and if i have a premature failure i can just replace that end with a new end with a zerk.

the lack of zerks was not a deal breaker for me. I expect these will outlast my ownership of the car and should serve for many years to come.

I just installed the proline 30mm steering rod set on my 99 DII. I have to say I am impressed with the quality and fit. the only exception is the lack of a grease zerk on the ends.

I know there is a problem with the fuse box under the steering wheel causing all kinds of gremlins. i would start there.
