    desperate need

Just a quick follow-up, for anyone out there who may be interested. I sold a few Volkswagen toys, to make the money I needed for the tools that I was missing...and as any of you who have changed a starter know, once I had the tools, the job went very quickly. After the switch, all I needed to...

    desperate need

I would also like to take a moment to tell all of the people who said that buying a Land Rover was a stupid move on my part, because it was classier than my financial standing, that the level of class associated with the name Land Rover has so much more to do with the people in the hobby than...

    desperate need

Hello, and thanks to all of you. Firstly I would like to say that I never expected such an outpouring of generosity and concern for my situation. I am deeply moved, and quite honestly, at a loss for words. Indeed, as a few of you mentioned, Paul Grant was so much more than decent to me, as...

    desperate need

What my starter is doing, or not doing to be precise, is anything at all. It is suffering from heat-soak. For a while I was getting away with gently tapping the starter solenoid while the wife turned it over, but I knew that wouldnt last for long...and it didnt. All of my connections are fine...

    Hot Dawg!

Propane is 110 octane...anyone out there running a Rover on it yet?

    desperate need

WOW! I must admit, I didnt look back here until now, because quite frankly, I didnt expect the response Ive recieved. I thank each of you for your kindness and generosity. I will be trying to contact Paul Grant, since my needs are fairly immediate, and he is local. Now that I have Connecticut...

    desperate need

Hello everyone, I wont bore any of you with the grim details of my financial situation, so I will sum up by saying I just moved to Connecticut for work that stopped being here the instant the moving truck was unloaded, and to help me celebrate this momentous occasion, my 2000 Disco cooked it's...

    Happy Holidays

Hello everyone, I havent been onsite for quite some time, and I wanted to take a moment to wish you all well on this holiday season. I must admit that it's driving me a bit bonkers, trying to remain non-secular, and politicaly correct. (trust me when I say that in person, I am rarely either of...

    Oil Leak or Oil Burning

A commonly overlooked item is the PCV valve. If it is plugged it will allow the engine to "vacuum" your oil under acceleration. I only know this thanks to a 113 dollar install fee of that silly little 10 dollar part from my local dealer! Best of luck, Glen

    Ethanol is stupid

Ive learned not to use any particular "rule of thumb" to gauge a person's intelect. I moved from Boston to a tiny town in northern Maine called Danforth, many years back, and I swore if I had fifty more bucks in my pocket, I could have been the leader of those mental midgets up there... as...

    Think this'll work?

I hate to admit this, but i was working for Home Depot when this picture was first released to the public. This nice VW was loaded with 1200 pounds of lumber products from one of our lovely stores along with 5 50 pound bags of concrete mix in the trunk and back seat. The wife was found by...

    Girl in the dryer

I am continuously baffled by people who will leave a window cracked for a dog in thier car, but somehow forget to treat thier children with even a tiny amount of forethought. Stupid people should not breed. Either way, this aint the kind of thing I'm looking to read about, when all I have is...

    Void in the Universe?

It must be about a million years old, and it is just now visible. I make this assumption knowing two things. 1) My first wife is about that old, and 2) She is the biggest "hole" Ive ever known.. Hence, scientists are merely seeing where she was before she decended upon this unsuspecting...
