Just to follow up on this post... I did a smoke test... no vacuum leaks. Replaced the champion spark plugs which was worn. Still idle rough and experience power loss. A code for the lean condition came up. Changed out the fuel pump which was replaced 40,000 miles ago with a new one from Napa...
I have a 1996 D1 (without AEL) that's running rough (especially on cold starts) and showing P1171 and P0300 codes. Will be doing a smoke test to check for vacuum leaks within the next few days.
My fuel pressure reading is 36 PSI (motor off). At idle, pressure drops and fluctuates between 29...
Swapped out the ECU with two other ECUs, replaced the fuel pump, checked fuel pump connector, and replaced gas cap. Took it to two rover specialist in the area and they are at a loss as well. Any ideas? I'm at my wits end with this truck!
It's a '96 D1 with 225K miles.
Anybody figure out a solution to the idling issue? I have similar symptoms as the original poster. Swapped out the IAC, smoked tested for vacuum leaks (none identified), and swapped out the MAF for a used one (helped a little but still having issues).
Does anybody have an answer to the above question? I'm wondering the same thing for my '96 Disco.
A mechanic dropped my transmission and after re-installation I'm getting a check engine light... Multiple codes (P0300, P1313, P1314, P1193, P1176). So I'm wondering if they either damaged the...
I went to an alignment shop to get a 4 wheel alignment on my 96 D1. The thrust angle is not adjustable but I was told it was about 3/4 of a degree off. Since it's not adjustable, does anybody know how to "fix" the thrust angle?
What are the consequences of replacing the lifters without replacing the cams?
I replaced all the lifters when I did my head job on my 96 D1 because I was experiencing some tapping sounds during cold starts (lifter rap?). I also replaced both the rocker arm assemblys and pushrods (got a deal on...
Check out the link below for a good write up and illustration of how to replace the front wheel bearings. Rear should be about the same.

You were right PT and thanks. It turns out the re-manufactured compressor went bad. The good thing is that Rover Renovations has a 1 yr warranty on the compressor. The bad is that they required verification from my mechanic (1 hour labor at $135/hr) in order to honor the warranty.
