D2 Cranks, No Start. Seems "Fuel Cut Off Strategy" is Enabled

Hi Everyone All resolved and purrs like a kitten now :) John I did test the fuel pressure, however I mustn't have tested it when I bypassed the fuel pump relay to manually turn on the fuel pump on. Paul LOL. Yes, after I pulled apart the black assembly within the fuel pump assembly and saw...

D2 Cranks, No Start. Seems "Fuel Cut Off Strategy" is Enabled

Well I took out the fuel pump assembly, put it in a bowl of fuel with the swirl pot full as well and connected 12V. No fuel came out of the nozzle, so I thought it may be the regulator packing up. I took out the spring from the regulator and extracted the fuel regulator (housed in the top of...

D2 Cranks, No Start. Seems "Fuel Cut Off Strategy" is Enabled

Hmmm... I took the crank pulley off to have a gander at the Camshaft Position Sensor (CMPS) and saw that the water pump had a drip and it finished right above the connector for the CMPS. The CMPS now has a fabricated tin cover until I have the time to install a new waterpump. I cleaned...

D2 Cranks, No Start. Seems "Fuel Cut Off Strategy" is Enabled

Hi Everyone Thanks for the responses :) jafir/RoverbyProxy: Yep, installed correctly. Even looked at the signal from the CKPS and it's a perfect sine wave. seventyfive: Will check all those things regarding the engine compartment fuse box today and report back (currently it's 7:15am here in...

D2 Cranks, No Start. Seems "Fuel Cut Off Strategy" is Enabled

Hi Mike I pulled all relays and checked them by supplying each relay coil with 12V and they're switching fine, however I haven't checked the MAF for a 12V supply. I did test at least one other relay's hot side of the coil (not the switch) and it was 12V, however at least one other relay is...

D2 Cranks, No Start. Seems "Fuel Cut Off Strategy" is Enabled

Hi Paul I'm probably calling it the wrong thing...maybe it should be called a secondary fuel cut-off :) The quote I mentioned above: "...the ECM looks for a coded signal from the BCU. If the signal is not received within one second of cranking, the fuel supply to the engine is stopped and the...

D2 Cranks, No Start. Seems "Fuel Cut Off Strategy" is Enabled

Hi Peter Maybe it's not the camshaft sensor, but the signal I'm getting on the oscilloscope definitely isn't a sine wave...or a square wave for that matter. It's a very very noisy signal. I'm going to try and disconnect the sensor and clean everything up as there's oil everywhere down near the...

D2 Cranks, No Start. Seems "Fuel Cut Off Strategy" is Enabled

Well, I just checked the signal from the camshaft sensor and I'd probably get a better signal if I just let it drag loose on the ground. It looks like I have to take the crankshaft pulley off to access the bloody thing. Anyone does this job easily before and have any tips?

D2 Cranks, No Start. Seems "Fuel Cut Off Strategy" is Enabled

I have an oscilloscope, so I'll connect that and see what signal I'm getting from the camshaft sensor. Cheers :)

D2 Cranks, No Start. Seems "Fuel Cut Off Strategy" is Enabled

Yes. Shifted through all gears as well and it indicates the correct gear accordingly.

D2 Cranks, No Start. Seems "Fuel Cut Off Strategy" is Enabled

Yes. I actually thought about trying the spare one but didn't. Looking right now for the procedures to do it manually.

D2 Cranks, No Start. Seems "Fuel Cut Off Strategy" is Enabled

Hi Everyone Thought I'd see if there's any guru's here to help solve this PITA issue. Anyhow, here's the basics: 1999 D2 Symptoms Does crank Does have spark Does run if I spray starter down the throttle body No DTC's How it died On the freeway and put my foot down. At the lights it was...

The administrator has banned your IP address

Hi I've been on this board for some time now, however whenever I try to log into www.discoweb.org these days, I get the message: "The administrator has banned your IP address because of spam activities from your IP range. Contact your internet service provider." I've also owned an ISP in the...

    MAF Test

Mongo Thanks for that as I wasn't 100% sure how the thermistor was wired into the circuit. From various circuits I have designed over the years, I have found that measuring resistance values at test points can be prone to error due to IC's and switching circuitry working with certain threshold...

    MAF Test

Hi all, Well, I replaced the Pierburg MAF yesterday and it's all running perfectly again. rovercanus: Yes, it's AU$531 for a MAF and the housing, thus the reason why I built a hybrid Bosch/Pierburg solution. I HATE PONIES: No 4th gear ratio codes. Just the P0171 and P0174 codes. Mongo: Yes...

    MAF Test

Hi Everyone I've been looking and couldn't find a good MAF test, so I though I'd post this. 1) First, you need an OBD2 reader that can read SAE codes (ie a base minimum of Intake Air Temperature (IAT), Air Flow Rate and RPM. 2) Connect your OBD2 reader and get: a) The RPM your engine is...

Please help re 99 D2 not going into 4th

Hi Everyone It's a bit late but I thought I'd let everybody know that the heater throttle body connection was leaking coolant and this ran down the back of the engine and onto the O2 sensor harness. This resulted in a short of some sort and screwed things up. I fixed the coolant leak onto the...

Is it worth getting two head jobs?

Hi everyone, Sorry, but I could help the title :) I've got a bad coolant leak at the back end of my 99 D2 and I've got coolant literally pouring out down from the tranny housing. I've also got little bits of coolant on the stubs that stick out at the back of the block (where the block meets...

Is a stall test really a stall test?

Hi all, As again, I'm probably asking a really stupid question :) I did a stall test on my 99 D2 and followed the instructions to the T. Put it into D, pressed the accelerator to the floor (slowly) and saw that it reached 2000 RPM. Whole accelerator pressing operation took around 4 seconds...
