Robinson service says....
Newer Rovers with the Bosch engine management use a special platinum Champion plug. Quite a bit more expensive, available from your dealer.

What is that part number? IM a dummy...

FYI the stock number is 7318 for the Champion Doulbe Platinum plugs

i chased a misfire for 3 months with my 03 D2. after replaceing both coils and wires it ended up being the RC11PYPB4 plugs that the dealer installed. I bought a set of 2 dollar NGK's and all issues went away. no more rough idle, no flat spot, no misfire. my 2 cents is to stay away from the iridium plugs. better yet, you can have mine RC11PYPB4, with less then 1000 miles on them for $2 each plus shipping.

a search here will show that the platinum plugs are not worth the extra coin in any way.

with rovers the best plan for plugs is ...

BUY CHEAP AND CHANGE OFTEN!!!!!!!

use the copper cores

Not much to update. I have used RN11YC (part # 322) for ~11 years in Bosch 4.0/4.6. It works. I'm sure the NGK copper plugs would be fine as well. Don't over-think it, and don't buy anything special. The triple/quad platinum BS is just a waste of money for these trucks and can actually be problematic.

my only advice is to do your due diligence with your research.
there are a few typos on these boards which will lead to you installing the wrong plugs.
i am currently running the wrong plugs from ngk, based upon what i read in a thread, one letter difference.
go to the manufacturer to find which plug fits your application and cross reference that with the needs of your land rover.

I just pulled my Champions for a set of NGK BPR6ES that I got at Advanced Auto for about $22.00. It runs better than the Champions that have been on my D2 for about 2-3k miles. The only thing that was a challenge was the SAI pipe that connects to the heads on each side limited the room for the socket plus extension. The NGK plug required a larger socket.

What kind of update are you looking for?

It's a early 60s era motor, that is 13-14 years old at this point.

Champion 318 or 322 have run just fine in mine for the last 12 years, so I guess those are still good to use. Somehow, I don't think a new type of spark plug is going to magically breath extra compression, HP, MPG, etc. into it.
