Mine went yesterday after a long drive to Denver and back. Has anyone changed this themselves? I looked at it but there seems to be alot of parts in the way that have to be removed. Mechanic or self change

If you don't have the correct fan clutch tool, don't even try. The job isn't that bad (make sure you get the O-rings), but getting that fan clutch off is a bear. The tool is well worth the $100 price tag, IMO.

As your truck is beginning to age, flush the coolant (use the right BMW coolant), replace the hoses and carefully inspect the radiator, they are known for early failures. Check the expansion tank, almost everyone that's been in the shop has had a cracked tank.

The two tubes that go to the back of the engine from the water pump can become unseated at the back when removing the pump and are a PITA to get reseated. That was the kicker for me and it is best that you had your shop do it, I had mine do it.
