04 Discovery for Sale

UPDATE 2 -- After replacing the water pump there does not appear to be any more leaks. However, my wife still wants it gone. I am undecided on price, cosmetically it is rough, but it is still running good. I am considering $3,000, but am not firm at that price.
UPDATE -- I had a chance to look at it a bit closer, and it appears that it is the water pump that failed. So once that is replaced, it should stop leaking and be ready to drive.

My Discovery lost its coolant and overheated in rush hour traffic. Now it will not stop leaking coolant. I think it needs a new head gasket or something else fairly serious. This Discovery has been used extensively off-road and it shows.

Mileage 130,000
SE 7
BritParts front bumper
Terra Firma 2" Springs
TrueTrac Front and Rear
Was running great until overheating so transmission and transfer case should be fine.

Most likely good for a part out. If it does not sell it is likely going to the Junk Yard, so make me an offer.
Located in Utah, still drives, just leaks coolant.

I think I could get more than $1000 for the third members, transfer case, and bumper.

Very good point, you should just sell the Diffs, bumper, CDL linkage and springs and then sell the rest to a scrap yard.

You'll come out ahead of trying to sell it as a whole truck.

It overheated, but the engine does not appear to have suffered any damage. What I thought was a major leak turned out to be the water pump, which was easily fixed. However, my wife is tired of me always working on it, so I bought a different car even though this one still works. It sometimes throws an engine code for a gross evaporative leak, caused by a dent near the gas cap. It still passed emissions the last time I took it in.

The details of what happened to cause it to leak are as follows: The nipple near the bottom of the coolant reservoir cracked and I lost a lot of coolant. Driving home I noticed that the temperature gauge was getting into the red, so I turned off the endgine and coasted to the off ramp. I put more coolant into it and drove home, it did not overheat again. I put in a new reservoir, and it stopped leaking and I thought everything was fixed. But then it started randomly leaking coolant from the engine, not from any hoses. I thought it was going to be a major repair, but it turned out the seal on the water pump failed. I replaced the water pump and now it does not appear to leak coolant any more.
