Can anyone tell me what ID numbers are needed to program a LR3 remote? I remember with the DII the dealership needed the FCC number and another number. Is it the same with the LR3 remote? I've found a couple of new OEM remotes online, but wanted to ask before purchasing.

I recently had the dealer reprogram my D1 remote, so probably not a direct comparison. They didn't need any numbers, but I imagine a D1 remote is a different beast from the LR3 part. If you have a non-functioning original LR3 remote that you are replacing then you might try opening up your remote, calling the service department, ask them what numbers they need, and look inside your remote to find these numbers so you know how to identify them. If you are not 100% sure the replacement will be a perfect match then get some guarantee that you can return it.

The numbers are not inside the remote.

If not programmed, the only thing the key will do is allow you to put the truck into neutral so it an be taken to someone who can program the remote.

The info you need is referred to as the lockset key barcode, it's a hellishly long alphanumeric sequence.

There are some diagnostic computers that allow one to accomplish this outside the dealership network, but they are few and far between.
