10 year old antifreeze

Looking at a truck that has been sitting for 10 years. Should internal engine corrosion be a major concern? Any easy to check red flags?

I would thing there would be corrosion in any engine sitting 10 years. I'd flush everything the best I could, maybe R&R the radiator. Replace hoses and full with fresh coolant.

My big concern is what has potentially happened to the mating surface of the head and block. I haven't seen any corrosion on the engines I have worked on but I have never taken apart one that has sat for 10 years.

The block and heads are aluminium. I'd be more worried about the bores.

Pull the plugs and squirt some penetrating oil into each cylinder and turn it over by hand before firing it up.

In my line of work I'd take two cubes of ice, drop them in a rocks glass, fill with said vintage coolant, and enjoy.
