Not personally, but, it's been done before.

You realize, the 110 frame will force you to go coil-sprung, unless you modify it for leafs?

Have you actually called and talked to Les?? Or someone?? Is it a temporary out-of-stock thing? They're coming up in their online catalog that Thompson's rebuilt.....

likewise not personally, however, Blueboy (109 SW) sits on a 110 frame and the running gear along with it.

agree with Leslie though - call RN first before you go that route if you want to keep it more Series than hybrid like mine.

Thanks guys. Am still looking...I have running gear from a 1990 RR classic minus the engine. I just want to get the 109 back in service. Pat

Not to hijack this but is the Richards or Marsland frames considered better than the other??

Marsland, if I remember correctly, basically took LR's setup for doing Series chassis and started making them, basically to spec, but by far and large, they galvanize them (why go through the work of doing a swap on one that isn't galvanized?). Marsland's chassis are all SIII ones, I think; they work for a II/IIa, but there are some variances. I've developed the impression that while they have a higher volume than the others, Marsland maintains a high quality, have never heard of issue w/ one.

Richards, I believe, produces fewer in volume, but will do more-specific chassis.... if you want a late SI chassis, or specifically a SII chassis and not a SIII chassis, they can do it. No idea on quality.

FWIW......

Actually, Marsland has the jigs for the Series 3.

Richards has the jigs for Series 2s. The Richards are viewed to be better quality that Marsland by the folks on the Series 2 Club in the UK. It is their frame of choice for restos.

I am looking hard at dropping the 109 body on a 1992 RRC frame complete with running gear, and using the $3500 i would spend on a new frame, to build a 109 hybrid. any suggestions? Thanks....Pat

Richard's usually have the holes cleaned up- Galvanizing build up removed so bolts pass through. I've seen a few screwed up Richard's chassis in the past- maybe QC has improved.

(the crossmember behind the gearbox was actually fitted upside down)
