I never really saw any of these ultra-luxury watches as interesting, until I saw this one:

...I kind of "get" it now. If you see one you really, really like, and you're willing to drop that much cash on a watch, I suppose it makes sense. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Those run anywhere from $60,000 to $100,000, I think; so it's a bit more reasonable. :rofl:

Seems a bit outlandish, but at the same time we all spend money on stuff other people don't understand.

If I remember correctly, the Breguet Tourbillons cost around $100-$250K. If I somehow came into silly money, I'd probably pick one up.

You might hurt the metal, but a quality crystal should not have a problem. I have relatively cheap watches, but with good crystals and door knobs and jams don't even scratch them. Mid range Seiko and Citizen. Cheap Sturhling.

A coupla years ago, my brother in law sold three watches for a total of $5M or $6M and they wouldn't be finished for three or four years.

While I do enjoy having an Oyster, I don't see the attraction in a tool that only tells me how much of my life I've lived and that it's getting shorter every minute.

These seagull watches are the real deal and a fraction of the price of the swiss made stuff. I have one (m172s) and it keeps time within 15 second per day. Lots of good info on the company out there.
