I've got a fuse blowing for the wiper/horn and I have a feeling the wiper motor is siezed up and causing the problem. But where is the damn wiper motor?

I'm hoping to open up the cover, clean it and give it a little lovin' to get it working. That is if that's the issue.

You don't have faith I can fix it?

Some-bitch was blowing fuses, so for fun I put a larger amp fuse in and she was a smokin'.

My thought is that it's frozen up from water, age, etc and could potentially be un-frozen with my magic hands.

This is a RHD truck, so I am assuming it's still behind the cluster.

No, Yes, er, maybe. Looks like it might be on the left side either side drive... The parts catalog is sketchy, but give no reference as to RHD/LHD so I can only assume they are the same and it's located on the left side of the truck.

In the event you can't fix it, it also appears as though I can source replacement brushes for about $40 plus shipping, P/N RTC198.

It looks like they used the same wiper assembly from about 1970 to 2001:D

Nice. I was at a friends shop today and he has several Mini's they are restoring and they appear to have the same/similar motor too.

It's not behind the gauge cluster. Must be on the left side. Will deal with that tomorrow.

Thanks

EDIT: I think it might be in the lower dash area. Not 100% which side though.

It's not that far down. Once you start removing the trim and "heater" duct, you'll see it. It bolts pretty much directly to the bulkhead.

I won't have a 110 here for another month or so-I don't have one to take pics of, sorry!

If I go over to my friends house today, I'll take some pic's of the set up.

It bolts up just like a Series or D90.

the wiper motor is always in the far left behind a small section of the lower most dash pad regardless of left or rhd. You shouldn't need to remove anything but that one small section of the lower dash and the grab handle. These things get the @#$% run out of them in the UK and I have had several arrive on their last legs. The motor turns a cable with an outer steel screw drive that goes through gear boxes or as the brits call them wheel boxes. After 25 years that original grease doesn't help much.
Go here and download yourself the factory workshop manual:
http://landroveroneten.com/index.php/land-rover-manuals/
and http://www.lhsw.com/d90/Defender_Workshop_Manual.pdf page #396

A new motor is about $185 bucks. I may have a rhd one laying around from a conversion if yours is toast. If not I have two trucks I'm about to convert.
Hope that helps.

Hook up the motor directly to a 12 volt source and see how it works.

I bet you have a wire "grounding out" somewhere...That fuse panel alone is scary enough!
