The viscous coupling is original equipment - haven't had to replace it.
The sum total of engine repairs that I've had to do on this thing other than regular maintenance is two water pumps (they seem to last around 85,000 miles) and to replace the radiator a couple of years ago. It has been remarkably reliable.
I did have to replace the left front CV joint at the MAR two years ago - found out when I got very embarrassingly stuck in the flat mud field next to the crossing to the island that I was driving a two-wheel drive Range Rover. The CV joint had broken on the trip up but I bought a new CV from Eric and installed it in the upper field witha large circle of Solaros members sitting around in a half circle of lawn chairs watching the show.
This truck has placed third in the Aluminum Man triathalon at the MAR twice - I just couldn't beat Team Boggs with it so I got a Defender. I know I could take 'em in my SIIA 88".
