Needs valve job, upper tailgate, little stuff here and there. Good project.

New viscous in tcase, new rear diff, just tuned up, keyless and power seats/mirrors still work properly, I dont have time for this one at the moment. It was running (poorly i might add, but nice cold AC) but I pulled a valve cover and rocker shaft to diagnose.

Will it make it to philadelphia? How are the tires/brakes/rotors/exhaust? Does it still have EAS?

This is a project, meaning it needs a valve job, and I would say a set of tires to be roadworthy. It was running and driving fine until the valves gave up and I bought it a few months ago from a customer. I know a little about the Rover game, I know how to lowball people and get great deals on these things... yet I paid $1000 for the truck because it is an excellent candidate to be a very nice RRC. Before I got the chance to start the project I picked up a boat project (I have been wanting one forever, finally got the wife "on board") and the Rangie sits... I am not trying to make a dime on this truck.

Buy the truck, toss a few hundred well spent dollars at it and invest some time in the details and you can double your money. Or, heres a chance to build a RRC wheeling truck on the cheap by starting out with a nice solid base project instead of paying a couple thousand extra for a running driving truck. Or, fix it up to your liking and have an end product that is the Ramge Rover you want instead of settling for someone elses truck. Jump right into this project and there are several ways you could go, but one of them is not driving it back to Philly. Sorry.

Somehow missed that. To much skimming ads, and not reading the details.

I am unfamiliar...........do these have the 4.2 in them?

If it runs so poorly that it will not make it several hundred miles, I am guessing it needs more than valves. How do you know or what makes you think it is valves? I know you said you pulled the valve cover, but why do you think exactly it is valves? Can I get a picture of the upper tailgate and any rust on the truck? Can you also tell us if the ABS system is still functioning or if it has any issues (pump running long, TC/ABS does not work on certain wheels etc.) Since you were the mechanic, when was the last time it had rotors?

Basically, I can do valves in a day, but if I have to drop a couple grand in maintaince parts to get it past inspection, or I need to put a new block in it, she is worthless.

Unfortunately, I have a trail only rig. This would be set up as a second rover for whatever woman I have around to drive.

PA safety inspection does not require ABS functionality. From the PennDOT "Vehicle Inspection and Equipment Regulations" publication 45, section E (Passenger Cars and Light Trucks)

175.80 Inspection Procedure
(b)(4) Reject if
(iv) A brake warning lamp or other device indicates a malfunction of the braking systems unless the vehicle is equipped with an antilock braking system (ABS) which is designed to revert to standard braking operation and no driveability deficiency or loss of braking performance is present.

Do '93 LWB even have TC?

Cheers,
Jeff

Yes they have TC. I care about the ABS because if it fails it is $$$$ to fix or a PITA to convert to non-ABS.

Yes, I am aware of that. Of course if the ABS fails in an LWB, you do lose braking performance: no power and only the front brakes work.
