3500 isnt a bad price for a manitained truck. can you get one cheaper sure but that doesnt mean he is on crack. some of you are serious cheap fucks.

I agree. There are a lot of inherent qualities in a Rover that keep the price up a bit- i.e., the body that won't rust, the V8, the style, the comfort level (I'm serious).

Anytime I see a LR under 4.5K that has no significant body damage, a well running engine and trans and decent seats I think it's a bargain IMHO.

I would second the idea of sticking it on Ebay, though- you'll get your asking price their for certain.

Good luck!

A rover that woen't rust????? You must live in the DEEP DEEP South. Pull the carpets on most any Range Rover classic and the drivers side foot wells will be rusty. Discos were prone to rear floor issues due to leaky rear doors and sunroof issues.

Also aluminuim may not rust but it will certainly coroad(sp) into thin air ( Ask a d-90 owner about the door issues)

3500 for a cloth diso with average miles and a stipped model is asking a bit much but there is a sucker born every minute. After all I have had 4 Rovers in the last 8 years. Get that price down in the mid 2K range and it will move.

Good luck If I was in th emarket I'd make you an offer but it would be low....

Sure, the footwells and rear may rust- I'm in MO and mine haven't yet, but I'm a stickler when it comes to pulling the carpet and checking every so often- but every car's footwells and rear will rust eventually. But the body will last long, long after any car from the same year has rusted away.

As for aluminum corroding- it does so when it comes in contact with a noncompatible metal, i.e. iron, primarily. But corrode into think air? Hardly. I've had a 63 Series and a 78 Series, both which spent 99% of their life outside, and neither body was corroding away- the only areas that began corroding were the tub to frame mounts (iron/aluminum mix with the bolts).

In MO at least, it seems that 3.5K is a fair asking price- perhaps not in other areas of the country, though.

I agree that you should fix as many of the small issues (i.e. rear windows) as you can before selling- fairly simple to do and really will affect a buyer's perception.

Looking at that engine bay, several things are obvious, knowing that flash photography makes engines look nastier than they are.

First, it's obvious he didn't go to the trouble of cleaning it too much before he took the photos. Second, it's still pretty darn clean compared to most. So that means, he walked right out for some quick shots and it looked like that.

Not bad at all.

The fact that the windows won't go down can only be a few things, and who uses those anyway? Even when they work, they only roll halfway. Steering leak, not a very simple fix, but not too complicated, either. The fact that both that and the minor oil leak were mentioned leads me to believe he is being as honest as he can.

The interior is in great shape, it's had good maintanance, if the advertisement was accurate. 3500 isn't out of reason. I'd say it's a good deal.

Like he said, you can go cheaper, but you will spend more money in the long run. Maintanance records? Those are worth an extra thousand in my book. That's peace of mind right there. You can walk right over and check out the shop that did it, to see how it was done.

It's cheaping out so bad that gets you guys in so much trouble down the line. :)

Though, "great deal" immediately puts people at arms around here, for future reference.

Cheers,

Kennith
