Shut your mouth. :) The Benz and the Porsche are boring me. It's time for another Rover.

No problem with the parts truck, I'm willing to seperate them. What Porsche do you have? I just sold my '87 911 this year since my wife and I had a baby girl in August. I really miss that car!

Oh, I've been busy working. :)

I bought the 2009 Bluetec MB Diesel (LOVE IT)! and with the help (rather advise) of another member of DWEB I picked up a 1997 993 4S 1800 original miles. My good friend Jason once told me: "When dating if you meet a man who drives a 2 seater he is not ready for a family/kids (no room for a car seat) and vice versa".... ;)

Excellent choice on the 993, they are the ultimate air cooled 911. An acquaintance of mine up here has a 993TT that's had a bit of work done and it's around 600hp, talk about an e-ticket ride! Talk to you later.

Ross,

Ours, (yours and now mine) was a 1996 that had the 5 speed transmission, jump seats and factory winch bumper...

Is this one a missing link from the one I have now??

No missing link. They produced more of these for promotion and use for the eco challenge. From what I remember these were used for marketing for the dealers and as a precursor for the XD to come after their service during the eco challenge.

Yours was used to select the CT team for the US and also used for promo. Hence the 5-speed and winch bumper/tray lights etc...

I'd love to see some pics of what you've done to her.

thanks,

Ross

Yes, the truck is still available. I managed to find time to tighten up the bolt on the steering u-joint which seemed to help a bit with the play. I think it could probably use a bit better alignment and perhaps the new panhard rod bushings and the play should be cured. I also flushed and bled the brakes with my motive powerbleeder. They feel better but a good 2-person manual bleeding should firm them up a bit more. Feel free to email me directly at mvanwyk "at" sbcglobal.net with any questions. Thanks!

bWilkins, I received your email. Rather than plod away on my blackberry I'll just reply here.
I do not have any pics of the underside of the truck at the moment, but I can take some this week if the weather cooperates, or next weekend at the latest. As for rust in the door jambs, there is a little surface rust in the driver's side rear door jamb, but it's very solid so there's no rust through. The frame and floorboards underneath are rock solid. I believe everything works but the cruise control, and one of the passenger side windows works sporadially (I can't remember which one). Aside from that pretty much everything on the truck works as it should including all of the lights and electrics. Let me know if you have any other questions. I don't think there is any unusual ticking or valvetrain noise in the engine, at least none that I have noticed. The exhaust from the muffler back does have some rust and a small leak somewhere, but I'm not sure where it's coming from.
In a nutshell this truck is very well priced for it's condition. Frankly if it weren't such a lousy market/economy right now I would be asking more. Let me know if you have any other questions. If not I will email pics of the engine compartment and underside of the truck as soon as I have time to take some. Thanks!

Frank, If you look on the first page of the thread there is a link to pictures. You should be able to copy and paste that link into an email to your friend so he can view them. I can email them, but it will probably be a day or two before I can get to it. Let me know if you still need me to email them to you. Thanks!

I would definately like to see some detailed pictures of the engine bay/underside/door jambs before I make the 6 hour drive to come and take a look at it haha. No window leaks anywhere I am assuming? The XD option has manual seats as well correct?

If I were to buy it I would only want the XD because I dont have any room for the parts truck, are you pretty firm on that $4500 price?

Thanks.

I will definitely get some more pics for you when I can. I don't think there are any window leaks, I've washed it a couple times and no wet interior that I could see. There are some cracks in the rubber around the rear side windows and rear door window, but none appear to leak inside the vehicle. Finally, yes, the XD has manual cloth seats with the waterproof "XD" oem seat covers.

I'm relatively firm on the price since I've probably got around $5000 into it at this point. I don't have a problem splitting the two trucks up, I can always sell the other truck seperately or part it out later on.

Thanks!

I'll haul it away for free!

What a charitable offer PT!!! LOL! My neighbors would probably thank you since it's been sitting in my driveway since the ground is too wet to park it at my Dad's place right now.

I'll probably just part it out in the spring unless I find a screaming deal on another disco 1 with a bad engine or trans, then I might use it to make one good truck. I may sell the whole truck though if the price were right.

My wife probably doesn't want me to get another land rover, but since I've now ordered a lift and bigger tires (which she didn't really want) for her WK Grand Cherokee she might let me get another Disco so I will leave her truck alone!
