so, rear springs are longer/higher rate?? I thought it was the other way around...

the sliders are off a D1, used and scraped up, but straight. the bolt heads need to be ground off too, someone tack welded them, and the frame was so rusty it was easier cutting the bolts.

Nope, the rear springs a longer and higher spring rate to account for carrying extra cargo. Plus I think the front perches are a little closer together.

Some good information here. http://www.red90.ca/rovers/springinfo.html

There is also a link to an excel file that calculates lift from different springs here. Although I'm not sure it's a 100% correct.

thanks for the info buddy, i was working off a false memory and put what i believe was a set of OME mediums on the rear last week and was disappointed by the lack of lift they gave, guess i will toss them up front and see what i get there...

the truck i am lifting is a 99 D1.

i have a 95 D1 with a 3" inch lift package that is in the process of me grafting a series body onto it. the 99 lift is just so i can put my 32s from the 95 on it.

You could always do a Cheap Bastard lift (move the stock rears to the front) until you find front springs.

I did this with my D1(fj coils in rear).

Can I move the rear springs up front on a d2 also? Anyone know how much lift it gives a D2? I'm guessing the FJ in the rear would not work or at least wouldn't yield any lift.

Well since the DII uses the same lift springs as the DI except the front is typically -1" (i.e. 2" springs give 3" lift). I don't see why it would not work on a DII. You'd probably end up with a little more lift in the front than with a DI however. Also the FJ springs have a really light spring rate so it would be a very soft ride and would sag quickly under heavy loads.

One time just to try it I put some +2" front FJ springs in the Back of my DI. I gave me around 3.5" of lift. But it was supper soft and not very good off road.

Thanks for the reply buddy! I was just curious if I could get away with buying rear springs for now. And move the rear to the front. I may not keep it at all but if I do I eventually want to lift it a little bit.
