So I thought I had it all ready for a state inspection, but alas the stealer found 3 things "bad"

1. license plate bulbs out(fuse, bulbs or wire to repair) $91.73 WTF?

2. Left tie rod loose and,

3. track bar -"drag link"- loose $483.76 whoa....plus $189.00 alingment

truck drives ok, no odd tire wear, so I'm suspicious, and I'm sure can do this work my ownself if I knew how to indetify the Track bar-drag link or maybe I take it to an independent shop and hope they don't find this?

I would have made them show me what was loose, so you could actually see the part in question and see if they were full of shit. Then again I wouldn't be taking my truck to anyone for repairs. Get under it and try to find anything loose, once you know what you need contact PT and get the parts. The light is probably a bad connection or bulb, mine kept going out from slamming the door until I put in Sylvania long life bulbs.

No kidding, I'm just outside looking at things now. Which one is the track bar? the one from the steering box or the one that ties across the back? IS IT OK TO JACK THE ROVER UP IN THE FRONT FROM UNDER THE DIFF.?

OK, after looking it seems the tie rod end at the pitman arm(steering box) is loose. looks like this has to be replaced with the drag link(?) as it's one piece? And the tie rod end on the same side that connects to the swivel assembly can be replaced by it self? On my 2000 or they the short or long tie rod ends I see listed? Thx in advance you guys rock!
