2003 D2: P0441 Help Replacing Purge Valve

I’ve got a P0441 fault code and I’ve read that I’ll need to replace the purge valve. I bought a part and I’ll get some hose clamps to replace the ones that could be original parts - they’re not worm clamps, but maybe a one-time use type of clamp.

Does anyone have any information about how to do this? I’ve located the purge valve and given the surrounding area a look around. It appears there’s another small electrical part that might be in the way on top of the hoses I’ll need to get between. Has anyone written a guide or created a video to help others with this? There shouldn’t be any (or only a little) liquid in this part (canister?) right?

I’m hoping this is the last thing I’ll have to do to get her smogged!

RAVE manual. Chapt. 17-2-2. Pretty amazing document. Clear instructions and graphics for all your Disco repair issues.

I searched the PDF file of the rave manual. There was no hit for P0441 nor P0442.
Now, P0440 is the Purge valve not sealing and P0443 is the Purge valve short circuit to battery voltage. There is also a P0444 and P0445.
Looks like a pretty simple fix.

bob's your uncle.

Did some more sniffing around and found THIS from Land Rovers Only.com -

Hyundai part# 28910-22040
for a Hyundai Sonata V6 and Santa Fe.
Someone posted a side by side comparison picture of the Genuine LR and the Hyundai part. Probably the same company.
The stealer wanted $367...Hyundai part for around $60.

Someone needs to do the Herculean task of listing all the non-Genuine replacement parts that are the same as or better than genuine LR.
Trade War of no, R.O.C. parts can be listed separately if anyone wants to take a chance.

I've got a cheat sheet on my iPhone Notes app for Disco 2 replacement parts. I keep updating it as I find new info on these forums.

I second the Hyundai part, just make sure it's genuine and not an OEM hyundai or LR part... They will fail ..

One Cross ref is already here
Under the old site design
Under tech section and “ parts cross ref”

Lots of good info there, wish it had been brought over to the new site design

Is it possible to upload what you have somewhere on this site?
I can post it but I'm not liable if someone orders the wrong part!
I'll find another forum post to copy and paste my list to it.

I isolated my purge valve and prayed some wd40 in it then added power to it from my PowerProbe.
I could feel and hear it clicking so I guess it's still working.

Bosch 0280142308 for the 4.6 engine, Bosch 0280142300 for the 4.0. Assuming you have a 1999-2004 Discovery II with the Bosch engine. Amazon and British Parts of Utah (at least) have these parts.

So, I finally got around to this. It took a bit to get the ear clamps off (never worked with them before), getting the hoses off and getting electrical connectors and other things out of the way, but I put the Hyundai part on there and locked it in with new worm clamps since I couldn’t get the original ear clamps back on. I cleared the engine codes, ran the car for a bit just to make since it was alright and no codes came back yet. I’m hoping it stays that way long enough that I can smog her now! Crossing my fingers this code doesn’t come back. Thanks everyone!

While I was in there, I saw the IAC to throttle body hose showing cracks right after the clamp... replaced that not too long ago too. Oh well!
