Does anyone know if there is a conversion kit or a way to convert a 2000 Discovery Series II to the newer '03 style headlamps?? I have seen posts about one, but cant seem to find out who makes it..

Thanks!

if your truck is Chawton White, you can have mine. I have a sinking feeling that the new peepers are covered with Ford plastic. All you need to do to know what I'm worried about is to look at the headlights of any 5 year old Focus/Contour/Mustang.

Ug!

The lights..... well, I like the newer lights too; I wouldn't go to the trouble of changing out my Disco's lights just to get the look, but, hey, I can see why someone might. No problem there.....

But those wheels...... makes you look like you're a drug dealer. IMHO, YMMV...... Hey, it's your vehicle, knock yourself out if you like that sort of thing.... To each his own.....

The conversion does look good but I would have spent a few grand on something useful. If you like it, then sweet. Hope you didn't pay too much for the new front bumper, I have an '03 SE stock bumper sitting in my garage.

Hey good work, I like the look of the new lights, always have. I have never been a fan of aftermarket wheels, but that is just me ( I can think of other places on my car where I would rather dump some cash:). Whatever boosts your rocket. I would have gone with an OME lift and some rocksliders.

Happy Cruising

Ah-ha kids... Everyone always goes to the $$$$! Almost all the 03 Disco parts were bought on eBay or at our local Rover recycler, all-in-all I paid under $1000 to do the conversion and I scored a killer deal on the wheels/tires combo ($500). I still have my stock wheels for the winter, but I just could'nt pass up the deal on the 20's. Fun for the summer anyway... Hey Snwbord24 how much do you want for your bumper? I may know someone that would want it...

All that money and you STILL don't have HID. Seems like if you're gonna spend THAT much money on some stupid lights, you might as well go top notch and get HID.

All that mod says to me is "I want a 2003 Disco 2 but couldn't afford it."

koby> bingo.

If you want to see where my money is spent, go to page two in my Car Domain page. The Disco is just a grocery getter... You should know that I got a killer deal on that, and its paid for. I'll be the first to admit it sees very little off road, with the exception of winter trips to the slopes, and even then, its on-road icy conditions. It takes us camping, but just as a "get-to" to the campsite. So what the hell would I need HIDs for? Lighting up the parking lot at the local Safeway? Illuminating my sons soccer game? My Dad has a full blown Rubicon-ready 1974 Bronco that we abuse on the trail. I paid 1/3 of the price of a new Disco, + the $1000 upgrade, and unless you are an enthusiast, and pay close attention, you'd never know...

No idea what it's worth, if you know someone who's interested make an offer. One blemish is the passenger side bumper end cap is cracked. I have no idea how much the end cap is since I just put the ARB on and didn't worry about it.

So where do you take the Ford off roading?
This whole web-site has gotten pretty lame since the update.
I think most of the off roaders are gone for now. This place is starting to look like a lot of BMW forums. Next thing I expect to hears is " will my Disco beat a 2001 Civic?".
I may not be the most hardcore wheeler, but at least I don't drive a pimp mobile.

So are we turning this into a flame war now? Because I simply came on here to provide information to those that had previously inquired about the conversion...

Gumarcel> Pull your head out of your ass, and realize that your beloved Land Rover (If you even own one, your Mama probably gave it to you) is owned and heavily influenced from the boys at FORD> Oh, and that "POS" you're talking about, is worth more than your life, once you get through puberty you can start hurling insults at the big dogs. Until then, take your 19 year old snot-nose ass back to your mothers tittie, or is your "dry mouth" from all your medication turning her nipple into sandpaper? Please... talk about Bullshit on the web, a quick search of your posts reveals that you were a ring leader in a circle jerk about psych meds on a Land Rover Forum? Oh, and you dont even know how to use a jack? Gimme a break..

Walter> With your age, I thought you would know better, but then they do say that memory is the first to go... So just because my Discovery does'nt have dents and scratches it doesnt qualify as a capable off-roader? I'm sorry to say that we dont have your Back-Woods off-roading here in California. I saw the movie "Deliverance" I know what a trip to the forest with you Virginian twisted fucks leads to.. No thanks. The Ford hauls the toys to the desert, where we can spend hours on end tearing up the sand on vehicles actually designed for off-road exclusively, (ATVs) and into plenty of areas your precious "OFF ROAD BEAST" could never tackle. I never meant to start this pissing contest nor am I one to lie down and take the abuse... Keep em comin' kids.. I've got all day..

"realize that your beloved Land Rover (If you even own one, your Mama prpbably gave it to you) is owned and heavily influenced from the boys at FORD>" the D1's were influenced by Land Rover not Ford. The new LR3 or whatever the hell it is called is the Land Rover influenced by Ford, which I hope wont lead to the demise of the brand.

Absolutely...I'm with you on that... Like I said before, I did'nt come in here to start a pissing contest, about who has a better Rover, or who is a more hard-core off-roader. I enjoy my Discovery just as much as the next guy, although with 100 Discovery owners, you will find 100 different uses for them. Just because I like the look of my Disco, make me no less a purist. I know the capabilities of a Land Rover, and I would hat to see that diminsh into that of an Explorer or Escape. But at the defense of FoMoCo (because I own one) They do make quality vehicles, just in a different spectrum, and geared more toward the on road market. I could never tow what I tow with ANY Land Rover, so to each thier own, and to each task, a differently designed vehicle.

5 posts and just a name on the CP? Not really opening yourself up to the good lashing you crave are you? Gumarcel was a little harsh in his comments, I'll admit. So let me see if I can boil it down for you.

Converting your trucks headlights to a newer style is the biggest waste of time and money in the world. Nothing says 'Poser Dork' like trying to make an older truck look new just for shits and grins. Nothing but those wheels anyway!! And maybe that tantrum.

I miss the off-roaders who used to be here when I first found the page...*sigh*

I suppose it was only a matter of time before:

"How do I fit 2003 headlamps to my Disco"

turned into:

"I fit 2003 headlamps to my Disco"

Hilarity ensues.

BTW, does anyone know how to fit 2004 roof rails to my 2001 Disco?
