Looking to trade 2004 Land Rover Discovery SE for a Defender 90. Disco has 44,000 miles, Mya Gold with tan leather, new tires, runs great - no issues.

Willing to trade even-up or plus cash for a NAS D-90 or a legit grey market. Would be interested in one in good condition or a project.

Thanks, Keith zackfamily@fullservicenetwork.net

I guess I'd consider selling it outright, but would like to give it some time as a trade first. Unless of course someone makes an offer that can't be refused ;-)

You might do better to wait on this. Land Rover will be bringing the Defender back to North America in 2011. You can pay an inflated price for an old D-90 now or sell your Disco for cash now and buy a new D-90 in a year. New ones have the 5.0 Jag V8 and airbags. Even if you wait a year, the exclusivity now enjoyed by Defenders will diminish once the new ones come onto the market, lowering the price of used D-90s.

The most cost-effective approach would be to sell your Disco now, invest the proceeds in a rapid growth stock for one year, then score a better deal on a Defender in the future.

I keep hearing that but I've seen NOTHING to validify that statement. Just some internet rumors.

Prices on D90s have gone down due to the economy and the importing of 84-85 from across the pond. Highly unlikely Land Rover will be coming out with a new defender any time soon. If it does, it will be nothing like the original.

Hell will freeze over first! The D90 will NOT be coming to the USA. It will NOT be engineered to meet USA FMVSS requirements for such a small number sold. The best you can hope for is not a replacement for the Defender, which will likely continue to be built outside of the UK, for 3rd world countries only, is for a LR3/4/RR Sport platform based vehicle, poss with steel coils springs and some design cues similar to the D90/110/130...

As posted otherwise, anything else off the internet which suggests otherwise is pure fantasy...

thats more likely. A d90 is worth way more than a D2. I have a buddy selling a forest green NAS D90 for $20k on the west coast here if you're interested. Only drawback is that it has a fiberglass top, but I'm sure it wont be near as corroded as those east coast rigs.

Neil, please take note of the key words in my original post...."plus cash", "grey market", "project", etc...

Also, I'm not really sure how much more likely it would be. I would expect a series II deluxe station wagon restored from the ground up to be worth the same or more than an unrestored typical stock NAS 90.

no. he's an old rover buddy. he's one of those guys that likes to stop in all the time, ask alot of questions, but never pay you to do anything. nice guy though. he picked it up less than a year ago with the intention of just cleaning a little better and selling it. and yeah i'm sure you could find a more than decent SII in exchange for the D2.
