2014 Mid-Atlantic Rally

Dates: October 2-5, 2014
Location: 100 Hoges Orchard Ln, Pembroke, VA 24136 (37°18'50.8"N 80°35'07.8"W)

REGISTRATION:
Early registrations will be accepted via the ROAV web site up until midnight of September 15th at the reduced cost of $99. After that date, online registration will close and registration will be handled on site at $120. Onsite registration will open at 12:00 pm on Thursday, October 2, 2014.

Every rally participant must purchase or renew their annual membership with the Rover Owners Association of Virginia (ROAV). The cost of annual membership is $20 and all memberships must be renewed in October of each year.

Rally participants that wish to bring more than one Rover (you guys got the disease bad) may do so at an additional $25 per vehicle.

The ROAV is proud to be able to offer a special deal to those ROAV members that want to attend the EXPO EAST in Asheville, NC this year. With these two great events happening the same weekend, it would be a shame not to be able to do both. So, all EXPO EAST attendees that wish to stop by the MAR on Sunday and purchase a one-day trail pass can do so at the reduced rate of $25 (plus $25 annual membership dues). In order to qualify for this deal you must present proof of EXPO EAST registration when you check in at the MAR. This deal is offered for pre-registration and onsite registration and is good for Sunday trail rides, only. There will be guided trail rides leaving mid-morning and after lunch to accommodate this group.

TRAILS:
There will be trails available for all skill levels.

* Beginner / Stock Trucks (over 8 miles of fire roads)
* Intermediate / Modified Trucks
* Intermediate to Advanced / Modified Trucks
* Remember – TREAD LIGHTLY

All trail rides will be guided.

We are pleased to announce that the property manager will allow us to travel through the lower fields across the street from the rally camp area to gain improved access to the trails. This negates the need to drive the 7 miles to the top of the mountain and enter there like we did last year. The lower fields will be stocked with cows and as a condition of this access, we must have guides escort trucks. Please remain with the group guides and be respectful of the property owner and his livestock to ensure that we are able to hold future events here.

CAMPING/LODGING:
Primitive camping is available onsite. Tents, campers, and trailers are all allowed. The short road in to the rally area may not be friendly to oversized rigs (large RV’s or 5th wheel trailers) but standard sized campers and trailers should have no problem. Flat ground is at a premium, so please plan ahead and bring plenty of leveling blocks.

There are no electricity or plumbing facilities. Port-a-Loos will be provided.

There is access to a hose bib that is attached to a natural spring. This was used in the past to supply drinking water for livestock. The water source has not been tested by health authorities but locals drink the water – and so does Bob Steele – if that is any measure of suitability.

Generators are allowed. Rally participants should remember to be courteous with generators and mindful of the noise. We ask that all generators be shut down by 11:00pm.

Hotel accommodations can be found nearby at Mountain Lake Hotel or at any of the various hotels in Blacksburg, VA. Rally participants are on their own if they wish to secure a hotel room and these costs are not included in the cost of registration.

MEALS:
A caterer will be on sight to provide meals for Saturday evening at the big top tent. The menu will include local pork barbeque, beans, corn, coleslaw, ice tea, lemonade, with cookies and brownies for desert. Meal tickets may be purchased ahead of time at the online registration page for $15 a person. Additional meal tickets will be sold on Saturday evening at the dinner on a first-come / first-served basis for as long as the food holds out. It is best to pre-register to guarantee a dinner plate.

T-SHIRTS:
T-Shirts will be available purchase online with early registration for $20. A limited number and size selection of t-shirts will be available for purchase onsite.

FIRES:
Campfires are allowed at each campsite pending current weather and fire conditions. Please be safe with fires, keep a water source handy, and do not leave fires unattended. Check in with Rally Control to stay informed on current fire conditions.

RAFFLE:
Every registered Rally participant will receive a raffle ticket at registration. After dinner on Saturday night, the additional raffle tickets will be sold and prizes will be given away.

PETS:
Pets are allowed. Please remember to be courteous and safe with your pets and keep them leashed at all times.get the registration site open and more details, I will post more data here. In the mean time, please mark your calendars.

Mike has continued to add trails this summer, and all the trails are accessible by simply driving across the street to the rest of the property. Registration is at about 40 trucks so far, not including some folks coming from the Expo East for Sunday. I figure we will have about the same as last year, and I intend to let all the air out of Bobeck's tires so he does not win the RTV course again.

Jeff Aronson is coming down for RoversNorth to cover the event and help us with the RTV course. Great guy with a long history with Rovers. Thanks Jeff!

I am unable to do free oil changes on site being that I will be setting up my Massage Table on one of the Rough Trails that may cause lower back pain.. (the only oil on these hands will be KY Warming sensations).

I just got my online certification last week! Can't wait to try this out!
