Was about to run out and stick a set of 235/85-16s on to replace the 750/16s I have when the thought occurred to me what about 265/75-16 for my D1.
Anyone done both? Please share your experience about their differences.
Not interested in what you may think about how they look, just how they function
Thanks

I think if you get 265/75 you might have to trim more because they are a wider tire, however I am not sure exactly. I know one guy who had to trim that off because they were too wide. I have the 235.85 and I like them better, narrow and tall, looks better on the disco I believe.

D1s look better with tall and skinny, D2s with the fat. I heard that a few times now from other people.
I think the little fender flares on the D2 make the 265/75 fit and look natural, while the 235.85 look kinda narrow.

Definatly depends on the application. Tall and skinny looks better I think on the DI, I've gone with tall and fat on my DII, but that's a DII though...

235/85 will give you two advantages. First, a better turning radius and second, it's a lighter wheel which on the long run will reflect on the life of your wheel bearings, steering box, steering damper, ball joints,..etc.

265/75 will rub your radius arms when making right turns even after stop screw adjustments.

Alexa,

you can adjust the steering stops with (if memory doesn't fail me) a 17mm and a 19mm open "wrench" (english term?)...its REALLY simple, and would allow you to enjoy your fatter meat (pun?) despite loosing a wee bit in turning radius.

I just put on 265/75 last year but the radius arm rub thing is driving me crazy enough to start thinking about changing already so I would vote for the skinnier tyres

If you want I can take a pic of what you have to adjust today after class.

Nice pic Stansell, wonder where that came from? :D

That's off a DII, I don't know if the DI is the same. I didn't have to adjust on my DII for the 265/75's.
