I installed new Ashcroft air lockers with 4.11 gears and rear axle shafts this past weekend. The hubs were a bear to get off. Took a hammer and pry bar to get them off. Everything went back in ok, until the test drive.
Backed it out of the shop into the gravel drive way, put it in gear and went easy on the gas. Started off fine, but 10 seconds into moving forward the truck lurched and had a grinding sound that sounded like the ABS kicking in. The ABS light came on first quickly followed by his two friends..
I cleared the abs codes and tried again.. same issue.
Drove the truck with the 3 amigos on... no issue.
I decided that it was an ABS issue and not a "we installed the lockers wrong issue". So I went wheeling to test out the new lockers. Drove all around Uwharrie, used the lockers and wheeled "open".. no issues.
Then drove 100 miles home, Again no major driving issue, although I did hear a slight metallic grinding noise at higher speeds that almost sounded like the brakes? I havent driven the truck since Sat.
I cant remember the exact codes. Im asking my buddy who had the code reader to send them to me, but I think they were low voltage codes on both left side sensors?
Im going to take the wheels and brakes off to inspect everything.. Wondering if anybody has any input on this? Believe it or not after 11yrs of owning a D2 this is the first time Ive had the 3 amigos!!!
Ill update what the codes are once he sends them to me. Edit: the codes are for low sensor output for both front and rear left sensors
