Copley is asking $45k for a Series II 88. The pictures make it look beautiful and I'm sure it's flawless, but $45,000 for a Series?

It's worth what someone will pay...

I'm a rover nut, but I think that I'd find something else to spend my money on...

FWIW...

Wow. Proving you never get your money back what you put in it. For $45k you can do a lot to a series to personalize it just for you.

Copley sells trucks to pro athletes and people whose beach house is bigger than your home. Somebody will buy it and leave it on Nantucket for summer ice cream runs.

where i'm at right now, duh...
those prices are insane.... Why would someone pay 60k for a 97 D90? yes, they do have low miles, but you could buy a used one and put a new engine and all sorts of crap in it for les than that....

i would love to walk around the showroom though.

Doesn't sound to bad if it was restored right. Cost of new parts alone is in the upper 30's from Rovers North. Add labor and it gets real expensive. . .

Cooper Techinca restores trucks in the 100k range. Once told me a part broke and he jumped on the next plane from Chicago to Martha's Vinyard to fix it for the owner.

They pay that amount because they couldn't be bothered with fixing up an older truck or replacing an engine.

I once walked around their showroom when they were in downtown Boston last year when they had the $75K D90 with 1500 miles on it for sale. They completely ignored me.

They frequently sell NAS 110s that have been reworked by East Coast Rovers. I would hate to pay that bill.

I think you are right though, these vehicles are for people that just want to buy a vehicle that makes other people envious. They obviously have no mechanical aptitude or they would build the same vehicle themselves for ten cents on the dollar.

We need people like these to keep the resale values up on our older vehicles. The blue book value for a 93 NAS 110 is $21K the avergae price on ebay is $40K and Copely sells them for $60K+.

I would never buy a vehicle from them but "good on um" for keeping the market up.

I think even if I did have that cash.... I wouldn't throw it their way. To me the prices are just absurd.

You could build a great vehicle from the ground up (through another shop) for a fraction of the cost.

Their trucks are pieces of beauty though.

Exactly! It'll sit on Nantucket for 17 years until it's a total rust-bucket and will be given away to someone...
