I just got a hold of a 90 classic which has sat for three years. I got the bad gas out of her and now I I can't get it to rev above 3K. I thinks I want to measure the fuel pressure but it doesn't have a port like my 95 does. Whats the best way to measure the pressure? PT I know you have a method. Can you fill me in?

John:
I took the compression fitting from a random parts truck and using a tee and some tubing fabbed up a pressure tester. To mate to the flex line, you'll need a piece of 5/16" tubing, a compression ferrule and a compression nut from a Rover, to a compression to NPT adapter to a tee. On one side of the tee is a 0-60 psi gauge. The other side of the tee goes to a 5/16" hose barb. from this hose barb, attach a piece of 5/16" hose, on the end of this piece of hose, place the mating parts of the compression fittings you scavenged from a parts truck.

It is more difficult to describe than it is to make!

Were it me, I'd be replacing -who am I kidding? The kid's truck still has the plug wires it had on it when I bought it almost seven years ago! While it might not be the way I'd do it, I think you should replace the plugs, wires, rotor and cap-and-you shold buy the parts from me! :D

OK! Set me up. Luckly I have two old classics to make the adapter and will put it together by this weekend. I would like to get the parts from you so give me some prices. I can call you if you want. Let me know. I know you only sell lucas rotors as every other I have have tried has not worked....Long. By the way did I mention this new to me truck only has 60K miles on her, WoW!
Thanks, John

I found it quite simple to put the fuel pressure tester inline at the fuel filter. I bought the one from Pepboys and the fitting fit perfectly between the fuel line and the tank side of the filter itself. Nice thing is you can leave it in place and just unscrew the tester itself for easy testing down the road. Gordo

Oh noes! If you're a friend of HIS, I'll have to raise those prices I quoted you!

I'll try to have a fuel pressure tester for you soon. I hired a CAD designer to tag along and draw things up as I build them.

Look for a new line of trailing arms, radius arms and maybe, just maybe we can get the pieces I cut out tacked together and there might be another three link on the market.

Also look for fuel pressure, oil pressure and water temp gauges for under-bonnet use. Hey, it's handier than you'd think!

Gonna see what we can do for off-road instrument panels as well.

A, J, AJ, Al, John:

I just got off the phone with my supplier. Your prototype pressure gauge assembly will be done by Monday if we can get the gauges ordered in.

Sadly, the gauges are $50 as they are American made with stainless steel Bourdon tube and case. I'm working on finding a pre-fabricated clamp for the assembly. The whole assembly is gonna be a little pricey, but it will be professionally assembled wit high quality components, not exactly the same as you'd get if sourcing the parts from Wal-Mart-LOL.

Cheers,
PT

Damn PT, you're gonna lose your reputation as a Cheap Bastard if you keep that up!

But AJ is a friend of mine as well, so that makes up for Keith. :p There is balance in the force.
