I am trying to figure out what is needed to hook the V8 a/c compressor to my 300tdi. I have read that it is not that difficult but without pictures/advice, I'm at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a compressor mount that bolts on the top of the timing cover
but the diesel uses a compressor with a different bolt pattern than the V8
and the plate where the hoses attach is different also.

I've seen the mount for the 300tdi compressor...unfortunately, I don't have a 300tdi compressor though I've got three V8 compressors and was hoping to use one of them. From what I understand, the mount can be modified (or a new mount created) to work with the V8 compressor and new hoses can be connected to the existing hoses (As can be seen in ECR's discotech project)....I'm just wondering if anybody on the forum has actually done this and if they would be willing to take some pictures or give me some first hand direction?

Thank you for the responses so far.

Any ideas of a good source for the proper tdi parts?

This is a bit late but I have been working on other projects.

If you are still looking at installing a V8 a/c on a 300tdi (Disco), I can help.
I made my own bracket and I use one belt (longer) to turn everything, just like on the V8.
I could not find any 300tdi specific parts without shipping them in from UK so I designed my own using the V8 stuff. Dont let anyone tell you it turns in the wrong direction, its simply not true.

Its been working fine for 3 summers now

I had a shop modify the V8 freon lines for me. Otherwise its all of my own fabrication and design and its not difficult.

I took some photo's today and I will post them when I have figured out how.

Basically I have a 3/8" thick adapter plate bolted to the top of the timing belt case which puts the V8 compressor pulley in line with all the others.
I then use a longer multi V belt (Gates 7PK1938) instead of the normal one. A tensioner idler is fixed between the crankshaft pulley and the a/c pulley to increase belt wrap around. This is a smooth idler used on VW Tdi timing belt installation mounted to a 3/4" thick aluminum bracket bolted to the three IP cover bolt holes.

Freon hoses cross over each other as the V8 compressor ports are quite different from the original compressor used with 300tdi.
