Filled up with gas yesterday, and noticed gas leaking out onto the ground. Got under the truck and can see the small hose under the bigger hose that runs to the tank (small hose runs to the gas tank also) is cracked and needs replacement. AB has the hose and it is $68 plus shipping. No one can tell me if that is a special hose (at $68 I am thinking it is very special) or can I just replace it with a regular piece of gas hose from the parts store?? Any ideas from the forum??

thanks in advanc,

phil

It is nothing special, just fuel resistant. If you get lucky, you'll find a parts house with flexible emissions hose that you can use, otherwise, you're stuck with less flexible hose.

BTW-it is very common for it to crack at the fill neck. You can either go to the trouble of dropping the tank, or you can use a double barber "Hose-mender" and just lop off some of the hose and replace the cracked section.

Right after the spate of recalls for the fuel tanks, I saw many of these and got pretty good at fixing them quickly as nobody wanted to drive the two hours to the dealer to have this fixed after the recall repair caused the leaks.

I'd be happy to pay $68 if my truck was leaking fuel....

But that is just me.

Some things I'm cheap about...some are just not worth the risk.

Mine is cracked at the neck, like you described earlier. I was hoping to do the quick and dirty hose-mender repair. PT, will you sell a foot of hose and the barbs?

You guys need to call Land Rover, they will fix this issue if it hasn't already been done they will replace your tank per the recall. They did mine, I am the 3rd-4th owner. No co$t t o me and now I don't have the 1.2-1 gal of gas on the ground issue.

Of course that little trip to the dealer caused a chain reaction of buying a use LR3 but hey thats optional!
