'95 Classic alternator choices

My alternator is going out. I hear people speaking of the 140 amp alternators from Will as well as British Parts of Utah (was RoverConnection) but all my research indicates that those are just for v-belt rovers up to 1994. Can I just get a 120 amp alternator for a P38 and then swap the pulleys? Are there other higher output alternators for a 95 Classic that I've missed?

Our P38 has a different mounting config compared to our 95 RRC.

You can get one from a 96-99 D1 and swap your 95 pulley over.

Your p38 is a bosch motor

A high amp alternator for a GEMS p38 will work fine, and I have 95's here with small and large pullies, as long as you use the correct belt you can run either (they came with the large but I am using the small with no issues)

I put a 120amp from a GEMS P38 on my '95 RRC. Had it rebuilt locally with genuine magnetti parts. Just had to swap pullies and drill the hole bigger on the RRC harness ring connector so the power cable would fit the larger stud. Working great so far.

Thanks. I have an email in to Will, but I suspect I will need to call him tomorrow and followup. I do need it ASAP, so I might have to go the Napa route unless he can pull off some shipping magic and get it to me quick.

In the event that you were in the middle of nowhere, it would pay to already have the power lead drilled out- then if the only alternator you could find was a D1 unit you could install it with nothing more than a few wrenches

I got the Will Tillery alternator special today. Since Will lives east and I live west, I get to white-knuckle it until Friday. I've got a 12 mile roundtrip drive to work each day, with infrequent longer runs to clients. Factor that in with the grinding sound that is increasing slightly each day, it will be fun to see what arrives first; the alternator or the sight of me on the side of the road. This is what makes driving a Land Rover fun.
