My dash is toast... Its pulled up at the front out at the radio, also at the glove box and fuse box door area. Ive been wondering about cutting off the cushion part and possibly laying coats of fiberglass over any holes etc. Has anyone thought about this or any other permanent fix other than buying the same problem cover and putting it on and waiting on the inevitable
I'm really serious.
Thanks
Gordon:)

On my last Disco I had the same issues. When the dash was hot (Phoenix 110+ outside) the dash was super flexible. I just used interior panel screws painted to match. Worked well. Maybe buy a cheap heat gun?

Thanks for your response
Are you talking about a Range Rover classic??
are the dashes really the same size?
By the number of posts you have made I'm sure you are a lot more knowledgeable than I am. I'm always interested in new ideas and if the RR dash is the right size I'd be interested but I'm also still interested in a repair that doesn't require me to totally disassemble the existing dash to achieve it. Thats why a cosmetic repair might still be interesting to the many out there who have a good disco and don't want to spread the wiring all over there shops. I build control panels for a living and the amount of work required to change the dash out is still daunting to me. I can't imagine what someone who doesn't do electrical work for a living thinks about it.

Thanks
G:)

back when that was a real big issue we were changing out the dash in about 3 to 4 hours. I have a 96 parts truck with a tan interior . Its not curling up.

number of posts doesn't mean jack shit.

But I do have both D1s and 95 Classics - the build quality of the two is hardly comparable. My 96 D1's tan dash is curled wherever possible, despite the Land Rover factory dash repair kit and the fact that I always use sunshade when I leave the truck outside for a day. The Classics' pitch black dashboard stays put no matter what.

I know of at least one DW member who retrofitted 95 RRC dash to his D1, but I can't say if it was a straight fit or not.

My 02 d2 dash was curling when I wrecked it last year. I don't think LR has had a good year for disco dashes. My 1996 d1 had the curl but I was able to fix it with the molding kit. This 1995 is a clean low mileage but has the worst dash I've ever seen.

Are the d2 dashboard's the same? The look very close and I've never seen one of them curled.

The dash on my G4 is curling. I'll probably get around to replacing it when I can find the time. My headliner will be done while I'm tearing shit apart.:banghead:

Post count gets boosted by one regardless whether the post was made on a technical subject or on relative merits of Beretta vs. Sig or kids/significant others needing discipline, hence my comment.

I read that Land Rover commissioned the interior design for the Discovery to be sort of avant-garde, to suit the vehicle as a lifestyle accessory without deference to standing designs at the time. Instead, they should have copied the one from the '79 Pontiac I used to have. It held up a lot better despite being from the same technological era.
