Looking a adding a disco to the fleet. I miss my 04... found one, seems special - what do you guys think this is worth (private sale)? Haven't had a chance to inspect yet so don't know what the rust story is or service history but here are the details:

95 disco 5 speed - only 65,000 miles
Stock drive train (no lockers, stock axels, stock trailing arms, etc.. )
2" lift / 32" inch tires
safari roof rack w/ 4 hellas
ARB with 10,000lb warn
jump seats (7 seater)
headliner sagging some
original 3.9 motor / xfer case / tranny / etc..
steering guard / diff guards
has lived its life in chicago - 3 owners - all service papers from the LR dealer are in hand...
clearcoat peeling on the roof

what do you reckon is a fair private sale price?

Thanks!

well since its a disco with a distributor I figure its worth about $10 . But only if all the glass is in it.

I wish I could counter this comment but I am having trouble with my dizzy. Not a deal breaker but a '96-'97 would be my pick. Having said that, I am going to "waterproof" my distributor and see how it goes. If you don't take it in deep water or go fast through 1-2 foot puddles the dizzy will be fine.

as a matter of fact, distributor engines are more reliable and parts are cheaper than engines that use coil packs

Bull shit. The engine management system is called cux but anyone who has worked on them for any length of time knows we pronounce it SUCKS. Do you wan't to know why we say it like that ? And what makes you such an authority that you can say something so stupid and think your right ?

I'm a mechanic. Anything computer controlled=expensive replacement parts

The distributor is a simple mechanical device as opposed to a coil pack. Your car starts missing? bad points or rotor or cap. fine, 25 bucks here or there. that other car starts missing? ouh this coil is failing, let me see...50 to 150 bucks each coil? Right...

The pcm in pre 96 discos dont manage the ignition, just the fuel control. and let's not talk about it if one of those modules goes bad in the post 96 discos...

The whole world is moving away from moving parts and guys like you are holding on for dear life cause you fear what you don't understand .

Gee, I guess all these years I've been running Lucas trucks, I was sorely mistaken by how robust they are.
