lol, diesel here is more expensive than premium unleaded....
Yes but the $ per mile is usually lower.

Gas disco:

300 miles @ 15 mpg = 20 gallons x $4.20 (91 oct) = $84

300 miles @ 28 mpg = 11 gallon x $4.50 = $48.21

guys, some of you are out of touch with value but that's fine, you don't have to buy it. if you've ever done one, the headliner material is under 70 bucks. the price stands at 9500 or best reasonable offers or rover trades. Roverover you mean your truck and 5500, right. I thought i would offer it here, figured I would get the wide range of comments.....
If being out of touch means offering $5500 on a $1700 car (kbb value) then i guess were crazy.

Good luck with your sale, hope you get your asking price.

I don't think it is that unreasonable. It is a nice low mileage truck. Where else do you find them?

I guess its in the eye of the beholder.

if you want a nice stock Disco, than I guess that one is for you.

However, think about what you could do with a 4K disco, which by the way would be in pretty damn good condition as well, and with that additional money put down for mods.

O, and for that price you would think it was rust free. Take a look at the ebay pictures and pay attention to the passenger side rear door area that is prone to rust. See a lot of it there, gaping hole even:

really, a hole? there are no rust issues nor holes in my truck. put your glasses on, better yet drive on over here and look for yourself. some people have nothing better to with their time than to beat up other people's listings.

also, i have had offers or 7500 already.

disregard smggunny, he obviously has not a clue.

take that and run, there is a sucker born every day, unfortunately you were the sucker to post that truck, with that price on Dweb, even though you full well knew what kind of response it would garner. and yo have been a member since 2005.... long enough to know better.

and second, I assume that you AREN'T the original owner. So either you payed way to much for it OR are in it to make alot of profit that simply is not there. Most of your posts are in the FS section at that...

Troll.

I bet you can get over 6 for it on ebay, low mileage seems to count on there. High mileage doesn't bother people here... high price on the other hand...

i love how he claims we dont understand value.... and doesnt want to foot a $70 cost to completely refine a $9500 truck....

In your ebay ad, you claim the truck "needs nothing" except now for a headliner.... and obvious rust repair....

what else are you not telling people?

Every truck i sell over $2500 gets a new headliner among other standard servicing..... because i DO understand value and that people deserve a good deal both on the buying and selling side....

Lets see some more detailed pictures, you can link to them. It sure looks like someone found rust if not what is it? Let's see undercarriage, they also asked for this on D-90.

I think many people would have likely ignored maintenance on a vehicle that they are putting 2300 miles a year on. That could be bad right? Do you have maintenance history? I definitely think that any vehical can suffer from sitting for long periods of time and this one no doubt has.

I dont know why I keep going back.

Maybe because of the original asking price of 12500. Personally I dont see how anyone in their right mind would think that a SD that is not in mint condition with low miles can fetch a price like that. Maybe its the "its a Defender therefor i can get way more than its actually worth" syndrome that seems to be creeping to other LR products.

Low miles, great. What about service records? Did someone drive it for 47K in one year and then park it in a garage under a tarp for the rest? Plethora of potential problems there as far as maintenance.

Mint? Far from it. Sagging headliner, bad seals on the rear window, rust, rusty bull bar, broken drivers side headlight washer. Im sure I am missing some stuff.

I dont knock the guy for trying to sell it for that price, im sure there is some unassuming individual out there who thinks they are going to get themselves in to a great deal. Hopefully they are not woefully disappointed after they drive away.

This guy is a dealer, and thats what he does. He deals. Case in point. Land Rover 90/110's and Defenders. Not worth anywhere near what they are going for and getting here in the USA. Its only because of their "cool" factor and semi exclusivity. Still cant see non NAS's getting those prices though. O, Defenders are shit compared to a RRC/Disco.

Its kind of sad too, i think its a great looking truck and almost exactly what I am looking except that it has leather seats. I love white discos and RRC's.

Honestly $7k wouldnt have been a stretch for me until I saw the undisclosed rot. I live in the NE and see what it does to LR's up here. I doubt i would pay $3 for it now.

Anyways, good luck with sale. I hope you get your asking price, but I wouldnt hold your breath on it for long.

how much do you think he got it for? 2k i bet.... doesnt know his ass from his elbow about what it takes to make them solid and just thinks he hit the lotto....

This may actually be the first thread i ever jumped on the bashing band wagon.... but thats b/c i take selling these very serious.... i kill myself making sure they are right before they leave my hands.... standing by them even long after they're gone with sending spares to people if something goes wrong....

his ad just seems arrogant now to me knowing a bit more about his POV.....

"used sparingly since the prior owner has/had several vehicle in the stable at his disposal to pick from"

I read this as, only driven in the winter in NY where they salt the roads. Then put away all wet in a shed for months at a time. Notice all the salt corosion on the engine components, wonder what the underside looks like?

Maybe the new owner will show up on the forums with rust questions soon.

The absence of rust is the ONLY thing that elevates the price of a truck, the vast majority of which are often not worth the maximum of $500 I'll pay for them.

If it has significant rust, it's just another $500 truck, regardless of the milage.

My '97 Disco with 150K or 170K from Atlanta with no rust if FAR more valuable to me than this truck with 47K miles.

I sold a 94 with 40,000 in perfect condition for 3500. Just to give you an idea. Nobody really cares about miles and condition. Just rust and mechanical issues

No car with over 100k miles OR 10 years old can be considered "clean", "mint", "excellent" without a restoration. This car was not restored, in fact never seen a restored D1.

It went back up on ebay, but I lost track of it.
