OK so here it goes, my rig has been hard to start for about three weeks now (96 Disco 1). I have run some injector cleaner through it and it seemed to help. I have had a engine code thrown for quite some time now P0125. Which says it is a closed loop fuel control/ Insufficient coolant temp. I recently have experienced random engine cut out, this happens at various speeds and RPM ranges. It would also idle high for no good reason every so often. Now it will start and run fine for the first few minutes and then after awhile it wont idle at all. It seems that it will idle fine at start up until I put it into gear ( drive or reverse) then it no longer wants to idle. I put a scanner on it and these are the codes it gave me.(Keep in mind prior to gear engagement the engine runs fine with no misfire or rough idle).

1. P1313- Manufacturer Control Ignition misfire.

2. P1317- Manufacturer Control Ignition misfire (once again).

3. P0307- Cylinder 7 misfire detection.

4. P0125- Closed loop fuel control/ Insufficient coolant temp. (still).

As far as the misfire goes I do not see any sparks under the hood from bad wires. I pulled number seven wire and the idle dropped and the wire was sending spark. If anyone has any insight on what might help solve these issues it would be greatly appreciated. I have a spare rig so I have plenty of backup parts, though I really dont want to just start changing parts. Once again if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Thanks Mike

Doesnt matter because your switch is not the problem. P0125 is a code that the computer is not seeing the engine get to operating temperature in a set amount of time. THe sensor is working because the comptuer is getting its into from it.

p0125 In 96 Discos were often set because the computer that runs the engine was programmed too fussy. Thus, Land Rover had a updated PROM to replace inside the computer. That PROM is no longer avalible. The Computers after did not have this glitch.
