I have a 92 RRC, starts right up most of the time, it?s stranded me a few times lately, it cranks but no results, twice it?s been towed and as soon as the Rover is rolled off the tow bed it starts right up, both times, accompanied by a very noticeable valve rap. Any thoughts out there??

Did you check wire connections? Next time it won't start check the coil wire and tap on the coil with a hammer. Can you hear your fuel pump kick on when you turn the key?

Drillbit, thanks for the input. I did play with the coil wires earlier today and I think I?ve isolated the problem at the coil to ignition wire(s). All the coil wires were corroded beyond belief, the coil to distributor being the only sound one. the fuel pump was/is audible when the key is on but would kick out sometimes. Great advice dude, thanks much. Tom R.
