I am in the process of rebuilding the 4.0 in my D2 with tophat liners, etc. This isn't my first engine build, but the first Rover engine I have dealt with. Anytime I have run into problems with this build, I take to the internet and can usually find an answer (usually on DWeb). I have learned a lot from threads on this forum and found PT Schram's posts to be particularly helpful, so I have called him a few times and he has been very helpful with providing solutions without me even being a paying customer.

Yesterday, I called and stated I wanted some obscure parts and would order from him. He sent them out for FREE! He just asked me to pay it forward to DWeb by making a donation. I was already thinking of making a donation (as this site is an invaluable resource), so no better time than the present.

Thanks to the members of this forum and PT Schram!

edit: Just discovered the donation page is down, I guess I will have to wait for the donation drive mentioned in Chris Snell's thread from December.

PT is pretty fantastic at helping people out and having patience to help people over the phone too.

This has been my experience, too. PT has been generous with his time and wisdom during various challenges I've encountered during Disco repair projects. He also sent me some parts for free. Calls about technical issues often evolve into conversations about travels and adventures. Plus his video tutorial on the swivel pin preload on the In Search of the Experience DVD was a valuable resource when I rebuilt my swivels. I should break some more stuff on my Disco so I can order more parts from PT. As the saying goes, "If it ain't broke, keep fixing it until it is."

Gary and I did that because of the intimidation factor.

I'll admit, the first time-a common theme for me, LOL-it WAS intimidating. Once I did it though, I realized it was an important maintenance step and I really, really wanted to share the technique.

I'm glad it helped you out.
