OK...so I have no cold Air on a 98 D! is picked up a few weeks back. I know that the AC clutch is not engaging when I turn on the AC. The light on the switch also doesn;t light up...although that could just be a light out.

IS the AC clutch replacable with out replacing the entire compressor?
Would the clutch not engage is there wasn;t enough freon in the system to engage it?

The first thing to do is calm the fawk down! There are many things it could be and the clutch is NOT one of them!

First, check the refrigerant level-like Joey said. If it's low the clutch will not engage. To check the clutch, use your trusty test light (There is a reason I so often suggest using the trusty test light) and check to see if there is power to the clutch when the A/C is on. If you have power, it could be the clutch, it could also be worn.

Let's not dent your truck throwing parts at it!

edit:I don't know why I was so insistent there, I re-read the initial post and my insistence was not warranted-sorry! Damn, it's too hot!
