Air Suspension Question...

On my 02 RR...
In the a.m. after the truck has sat all night or if the truck has sat for a while (several hours or more), the truck will lift and level itself upon start up.

Is there a leak somewhere, or is this normal? It stays once on the road and it will lift up and down through the selection without any trouble.

Just curious if this is the beginning of the end for the ARS on my truck...

It's under warranty, but I think I may go with a Coil overide suspension anyway to get a permanant lift on it...

On uneven ground, the EAS will constantly try to auto-level itself, even when the engine isn't running. When you start it up, it will rise up to whatever height setting it is at. So that part is normal.

But if you are finding it on the bumpstops each morning, that could be the sign of trouble. Or the fact that you are parked so unevenly, it tries to level each corner over and over until it's on the bumpstops.

I think you just have a slow leak in the EAS. Search here for troubleshooting guides and info. Or call Rover-Renovations. Dennis specializes in that stuff.

you've got a leak, with a tight system it won't sink on uneven ground (I parked a wheel on a cinder-block for 3 days to prove it to myself....)

I'm working on a lift kit as well, what's better than a "selectable" lift instead of permanent lift....

With an '02, you have many years left in the EAS, replace the wear items, just like brake pads, and it will serve you well.

thanks guys!
the truck is in great shape, only 58K on it and it's for my wife so not too many miles will be racked up on it and it won't be bumped around too much...

"Reaganite".

check out the answer - one that is totally reliable.

ditch the EAS and go with what LR originally designed - springs.

don't look back; and do pass Go

I agree, ditch the air bags and go to springs, it will save you time and money, I have a 99 RR and it started out the same way, Go out to my car in the morning it was almost sitting on the bumpstops, then came winter and it wouldn't even pump it up until the air bags warmed up from the brakes, which usually didn't happen before I got to work since I live only about 10 miles from work, I did the spring conversion and problem solved, Plus I was able to part out the valve block and compressor on ebay

Dennis is right. If the wheels are all on even ground, regardless of the attitude, the computer will see that they are all in the same position.

The things that lead to failure are excessive use of the system. Don't monkey with it, keep it airtight and you have fewer chances to overheat the internal electronic components. That said, EAS goofiness can be an indication of a BeCM beginning to meltdown.
