Wow. Watch the clip where the Rover dies. Not only did they edit in some fake dieseling sounds, they decided right there on the trail that a blown oil line had cooked the mains and the crank. Pfffffft.

I was under the impression it does have a TDi.
It does, but it sounded like they edited in knocking sounds from an old gas car that just stays running after you shut it off, LOL.

And yes that seemed to be a VERY quick diagnosis that the bearings were smoked.
Maybe they wanted to glance right over the possibility that Rover1 had dropped all its oil on the trail in the Alaska backcountry? :ack:

But they didn't hesitate to show superjeep plowing through half the trees out there. Even the Rover guy had to say something about that.

Sorry, but that's a bunch of nonsense. They were using an old mining road. Any trees that were on the road were moved aside or run over. They stayed the trail and cleared brush. No worse then any CT event. I would have done the same thing.

Yeah it's just hard to see what's going on the way they filmed it. One shot it looks wide open and the next shot it looks like they knocked them all down.

So much for treading lightly. Knocking down trees an tearing through mud bogs.

Go hug a tree!!! They weren't cutting a new trail, they were following and existing route. Yes there's mud and bogs in Alaska and there's simply no getting around them. There's also a lot of trees in Alaska and occasionally they fall on the trail and need to be cut or run over.

There's a big long thread on Pirate about it. Lots of Rover bashing but I'll be the first to admit that most Defender owners are just weird.
James Gall once told me that "Those Defender guys are different".
