Also, the 14cux has a tach feed that pulls directly from one of the field windings; the GEMS does not. I did build a massive external rectifier for it, along with an external regulator... at some point I will probably install them.
I removed the power steering pump last year, without an idler pulley to replace it I was forced to use a shorter, non-stock, belt. I wanted to keep the stock belt size (for obvious reasons) so I installed a second, better/more-powerful alternator. Two alternators on the same battery is a non-issue so... why not?
