Yea you're right Robbie. We should start a separate thread for it.

Thanks for the info about the rack. I think it's a great rack and love the concept. I just wondered because when I put the roof rails on my truck, the dang thing was so noisy I took them off so was curious about whether the rack would do the same thing. Good to know.

Is it fairly heavy or something you could easily put on and off by yourself?

easily something you can put on and off yourself. think mine weighed about 37#? that sound right Kyle?

honestly, with the rails and noise, i have had my rails on for the past couple of months (can't remember why i put them on, but never took them off), and I hadn't really noticed any extra sound. so that just might be me. but the rack definitely has not made anything any louder since putting it on. i also had the EE jerry can holder on, and even with that sitting a little higher than the rack don't notice any extra sound.

Well Alan - as we discussed earlier, I realy dig mine. I run the factory crossbars and it makes for a virtual full rack without the height, noise, or drag issues of tranditional racks. The factory crossbars make a little wind noise with the roof open, but I can't even tell the backpack is there.

As far as install and removal: four bolts and 30 pounds so if you ever do want to take it off, it is a five minute one-man job under the worst of circumstances.

Thanks Curtis and Robbie. Man I'm getting "rack envy". I have no need for a full rack and the trails I've been on, a full LR rack would be wacking into limbs and stuff but this little guy is perfect. Time to save up and hope exchange rate gets better. :)

Thanks again for the info.

Hey Robbie, Who's front bumper are you running?
I'm thinking of either building one myself incorporating the factory brush bar or building one that I can weld the brush bar to.
It looks good.

looks like a good solution for those of us using the stock rails as a place for Yakima bars and accessories. So, the $64,000 question is for Kyle. If you're no longer selling direct, and EE only has your Hi-Lift mounts, then where can we order a Backpack from?

The gods are not in my favor for finding an adventure rack....and actually, I've figured out that if I get a rack I can't lift the truck and get in the garage. I can lift the truck without a rack though...oh good grief-decisions!

So, can someone disclose pricing for the racks and bumpers? :D

From roversolutions.com:
"RS has currently stopped taking direct orders, distributor information will be posted when available."

Good thing too, because even though I probably can't afford one I want one :D

...just out of curiosity though, how much do they run, and where can I get one when I get to it on my list of to-do's?

This new rover is such a money pit and it hasn't even broken yet! ;)

Susannah...think how nice that rack will look on your truck....OOoooo, ahhhhhh....and it's cool too.

Chris this rack was designed by Kyle and he's the only one who makes them so until he's able to take more orders, you'll have to wait like the rest of us. :( ...which is a good thing for me. Need to save up some dough for it.

that info was posted awhile ago, before he quit the day job and started into RoverSolutions full-time. So if you really are interested, email him and ask. I "believe" he might be in Canada this week (and last week?) so might not hear from him for a few days.

Yeah - I am pretty sure he is in Canada this week. Like Robbie said, that is old info on the web site. Email Kyle and I am sure he will be happy to accomodate.

As far as price - who knows? Price is long forgotten when something has this much value :D

Price is reasonable for the rack. You can customize it to suit. I added a mount for a light and a rear ladder for the D-90. E-mail Kyle.

oh, as an aside, last time I was at Kyle's I dropped off my Yakima Powder Hound and old 157cm snowboard. he was gonna see how well that whole thing would work/fit to the rack as well.

Chris,
are you new to D-web?! I'm in C'ville!

I am new to d-web, and new to Rovers as well. I just got out of a very long and traumatic relationship with a jeep (an '89 XJ, gross I know); late this summer I stepped into an '01 Disco. I'm already addicted to the rover and d-web, the communtiy here is so much more intelligent and helpful than most of the jeep folks (at least IMHO!) :D

Thanks for the info about the rack, I'll have to look into it when a few more paychecks come my way!
