I dunno, I just figured out that if I sold all of my Land Rovers I could buy a used Canadian Lamborghini but then I would have to buy all new clothes since everything I own has a green oval on it. Also I don't know if I could get used to having my ass feeling like it was draggin on the ground all the time.

I like the idea of a collective lease.

Primary concerns would be liability and maintenance. Create an LLC with a board?

Hell I don't know, but if it could be worked out I'd be interested.

So much for my favorite place to wheel, this is really bad.

it truely was one of the best kept secrets until a year or so ago. we used to go and never see a soul, then towards the end, after Tellico basically, you would see people regularly. if Tread Lightly, Fragile Earth etc. were adhered to, this wouldnt happen. what gets me the most is why all of it had to be closed up? sure the big creek crossing was near a waterway, albeit very small, but many of the other trails didnt seem very damaging, etc. just another move by the FS to keep people out of the forest.

Well your crowd did not help with all the trash that you left for the rest of us to clean up so you need to read up on Tread Lightly,Fragile Earth etc.

damn brandon. call him out and tell the truth buddy. i'm so sad to see my-and others-favorite wheeling/camping spot- to disappear. no where else could i get together with so many unique persons and get along so well. i just hope that we all can find somewhere to go regularly like we have and enjoy such a camaraderie like we did.

And I'm not the only one that made note of it and if you won't to press it I'm know some of there others will speak up. Just clean up after your self when you leave a camp site like that and don't leave it for others to do for you!!!!!!!!!!

about a 9 on the tension scale there Rueb.

i'm not going to press it. in fact i stand corrected. leaving glass bottles in a fire isnt a great idea, and leaving them to melt is not the cleanest way. taking them home with us is. granted, we didnt expect a kid to not know about grabbing things out of fire rings. we didnt put every bottle in there, but did put some in. i am sorry you had to clean it up. we owe you a favor, and i hope i get the chance to return it.

we could all throw stones here, but we all live in a glass house too. if you've read the report, it is no ones fault that this is closed other than the FS would rather use the land for undisturbed wildlife habitat, logging, and keep vehicles (all of us) out of the watershed, etc.

i've had to haul empty beer kegs i've found down the mtn twice before, and nothing makes me more mad then loose trash all over the place. bottles in a fire may not be as messy and uncontained, but still trash. in the future i will make sure more attention is paid to this.

thanks

This is what happens when you throw bottles in fire rings. Haul your trash out. Glass doesn't burn, rust or rot away, it just stays around for a long time.

Mark,

It wasn't that he did not know he shouldn't have pull something out of the fire ring to play with, he was pulling it out to put in the trash and did not know to check if it was still hot. It happened around 1000 the next morning and the burn came from the coals keeping the bottles hot.

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the hijack, but it was the only way I could post this.

It has been a while since I have been able to check in. The URE6 is scheduled for October 22 - 25 2009!

We are in the final stages of working out some of the details and should have those ready for you by the end of the week. Registration is expected to open Sept. 18.

Looking forward to the visit!

Any Caney Fork updates?

over the past few years the trails that remained open after the initial closing (rough butt, etc) have been graded/bulldozed/permanently grassed and gated. there remain a few small trails in the area which are soon to meet the same fate.
