Ok, B-W shaft damage was cause of the problem. Now need to find a reman box either from Ashcroft or possibly Land Rover.
Thoughts on as transfer box is out, should I be looking at anything to do with the ZF transmission? 115k miles.

Reman box ordered by dealer from Ashcroft. Now get to see how long it will to get here. Land Rove GB said NLA and even if they had one, 3,000 CHF! No wonder Ashcroft has a nice business.

Agreed a LT230 would be a good option, yet, I'm in Switzerland without much in the way of tools and don't want the dealer to do the detail work. At this juncture with the Rangie it really is a light off-road vehicle now anyway so the B-W should be ok. Thanks though for the suggestion

Unless you have a penchant for keeping the truck as stock as possible. 230s are still pretty cheap and durable.
